Romisen RC-29 for $10

The one I have is the best quality small zoom light out a of a dozen. These are excellent for gifts, but be warned they should be used w/ nihm as the draw on mine is 3A, the highest (and ostensibly brightest) of any AA light.

This is not genuine, look at the tailcap. It could be Romisen themselves that offer this cheaper and lower quality version, but in any case this one is different from the full priced version.

These are 2 different tailcaps in the photos. The one with the plasic insert is definitely fake.

I have had my RC-29 since they first came out and min has the crenelated tailcap and the switch inside is a forward clickie identical to those found in RC-G2 models.

Why did you have to show this to me? :)

$7.99 more for international shipping = no deal :(

In my opinion, there are better (but more expensive) flood-to-throws. DealExtreme has a (fake?) Romisen RC-29 for $15.10 and I think it accepts 14500 batteries. But wait, there's more! BestOfferBuy has a Tank007 TK-737 for $16.20 and they have 10% off coupons (RETAIL10 or BOB10). I own the original (AA only) RC-29, and my TK-737 is better in just about every way. ;)

I have the Tank, too, and it's probably the best zooming mechanism, but it's a 18650 / 3aaa light (kinda thick) and the RC-29 is a much more convenient form factor and slightly better build quality (at least on mine). If this one is a fake, then I apologize, but it kind of looks like the real thing. I'll ask Romisen about it.

You are right about about both points. An RC-29 that can take a 14500 might be brighter, but of course costs 50% more, and not everyone wants brighter. :X

$9.99 to germany = even more no deal. But wouldn't want it anyways :)

Non-anodized threads... the best way to spot fake Romisens...

The pictures in the description are from 2 different models the RC-29 and the RC-C6.

The first image of the head and the image of the tailcap are not from the RC-29, plus as mentioned previously the interior of the tailcap and the non-anodized threads are not original from the RC-C6 either.

RC-C6 from DX

Judging just from the pictures one can not be sure that the RC-29 is a fake but the RC-C6 most certainly is.

RC-C6 from manafont:

$8.46 total. I have a genuine RC-C6 to compare it to. I'll report back after I receive it

Yeah, I'll do the same.

RC-C6 (1AA Version) from Manafont is not a real Romisen ... as can be read here and there

The same goes for the 123 version from Dinodirect. The several RC-29 I had from KD at some point (like 5+ pieces) were lightyears ahead to the RC-C6 (1AA Version) from Manafont... anodising, build quality, light output.... just everything... It is a shame how Romisens good reputation is dragged into the mud by those fakes ....

+1 and one of the reasons I really like Romisens

Goddammit, I just notice the paypal payment is to Gadgettown, aka yallstore, maybe t-mart (some people claim they're the same because they use the same NY rma address but I'm not so sure because it can be a service they share). I won't claim they're bad, but their supplier do sell knock-offs (though it doesn't guarentee anything one way or the other since they're only the middlemen).

I'd advice others keep this on ice until we get this light. I hope the pics are real and I don't get a "RC-C6 w/AA".

Thoth, that tailcap on the DX looks real (same as my rc-29) and different from the MF one. Faking $15 romisens for $10 has got to be a new low.

My rc-29 also has that tailcap interior (DX image), bought on 3/27/2010 @ kaidomain.

On a side note, their new (and verified genuine) RC-R5 is a bit of a disappointment. :-/

Details later.

Humm, that one was on my wish list, waiting for details .
