a couple of those described above as

“$3.42 at ebay A horrible light as is, but a very nice body …”

Fair description. Requires a Li-ion cell, won’t light up with ordinary AA cell.
Battery has to be put in ‘backwards’ (negative toward the LEDs)

Works OK, considering; circle of 5mm blue-white LEDs around a central red laser diode.

Sort of falls apart in the hand when the head is unscrewed, haven’t done anything more til I see how well it annoys the cat in its existing configuration.

I have one.
It’s empty now.. Silly
It was actually my mom’s.
I was curious about the inside, i ruined the wiring, they did everything with one colour…
So i gave her a slightly modded zoomie Smile
But it did work on AA, and AA only, judging by the 3 parts ‘driver’..
But also a backwards battery..

Hm, the
EDIT: two smallsun 560: 5mm LEDs, red laser
have inside— two red wires — they come from the outside solder terminals of the switch, and go through holes in the the ‘pill’/board. I can try to trace them further if you hope to rewire yours.

And one black wire, that comes from somewhere inside the switch, from a hole in between the two (red wire) solder points) — and that black wire goes to a solder point on the back of the ‘pill’/board

Let’s see, the contact from the ‘pill’/board to the body of the flashlight is made through a springy washer, one of those wavy thin spring metal washers — which is just floating loose, when the head is taken apart.

Well, if you or anyone decides to mod this thing please start a thread. I will eventually if nobody does, but I have no real idea what to do with it now.

But — all in all — the ebay source is cheap enough to be fun (compared to $10-12 elsewhere when I google the name Smallsun and the number).

And hey, these come with a nice two-part keychain lanyard with a good flat-cross-section key ring on one end, a clip-apart thing in the middle and lanyard on the other end.

Ideal for putting everything but your car ignition key on a ring, and then taking it off so you’re not hanging half a pound from the ignition switch, which wears them out, etc.

Any ID for this model? I am kind of into SK68 mod lately. What is the lower seen price?
I found a Aliexpress source, will share the link if it is cheaper.

I like the big tailcap. I having a hard time unscrewing mine. Alu/Stainless steel style bezel looks useful too.

Folks, thanks, everyone reposts the pencil-capacitor trick.
That’s not what I want. I know about that.

I know the capacitor pencil trick.
The capacitor pencil makes it “first mode every time”
That’s nice if it’s what you want.

It’s not what I want. I don’t want “first mode every time”

Mode memory: Remember the last mode — stay at whatever mode was used last time.

Thank you.

Got this in very recently:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/390796584794?var=660220903373&ssPageName=STRK:ME...

[edit]
BEWARE! Seller will possibly send you CRAP in stead of the initial model…
[/edit]

And it’s not bad at all!
It performs like an MXDL, which is okay.
Only a hint of purple, and only $1.83 shipped. Smile

One mode Hank, so maybe it’s just the brightness you need? Smile

Jerommel, does it look moddable? I don’t use 1-mode much — usually I want to start at low (it’s never low enough), with brighter as an option.

(Don’t have a driver for that yet — looking for one at 350ma, 3v, so I can swap in PC Rebel emitters— which I find scary bright for my purposes)

argh, what’s this? http://smile.amazon.com/Icon-Rouge-Flashlight-Green/dp/B001RTCVTG/ref=sr...

It’s called either “Rouge” or “Rogue” — 2 levels, AA. Hmmmm ….

Has anyone seen host/kit offerings for AA/AAA size?
The only ones I’ve seen are upwards of $10 so not mentioning those here.

WarHawkAVG mentioned a 15mm driver for the SK68 — did that ever appear?

Thanks Jerommel for pointing out the #3 with a solid pill from
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200958055768?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid...

I got one and it has a nice flat solid mount for the emitter and smooth zoom.

(another #3 bought elsewhere has a tiny little rim for the emitter to sit on and a zoom so loose it’s useless)

The #4s also take a 15mm driver — it seems to be just press fit into place.

It’s built like all ‘police 3Watt’: Main tube with the business pressed in from the front, so no head part, only main tube + tailcap.
But there must be a better driver in there, and a better LED (later generation?) than in most of them.
I had it in France last week(s) for the kids that were along with us, and it’s really good and definitely brighter than an MXDL.
We were all surprised by its performance.
Just ordered 3 more…

Different model and crappy light..
What a seller… No brains, just greed?
I don’t know, but i opened a case for a refund.
Such a shame how an initially fine offer turns out to suck….
What are those sellers (not) thinking… Sad

^Oh well. You win some, you lose some.  I agree about lightvendor.  I ordered a couple and was sent one and then some other "police" light.  I too opened a case.

Gearbest 1x AA headlamp Osram LED $4.55

Allright folks, this is not as good as i hoped..
Plastic body…
This picture here is not correct, i think..
Zooms from a small spot to a projection of the Osram LED.
I’m modding it as we speak.
It gets a new short head and flood optics.
Because it has one big advantage:
Very light weight!
No shaking mass on the forehead. Smile

I may get this as a curiosity.
Are there any other right-angle lights or headlamps worth buying in this category?

I just ordered it. I hope the GB flashlight has the magnetic base, but I’d guess by the price that it doesn’t.

I have a couple of these right now. I glued 2 pieces(stack) of Rare-earth Neodymium NIB Disc Magnets at the button and it is still able tailstand well.

It is about the size of Ultrafire 502B, but it supports both 18650 and 3xAAAs. Sealed It cost a few bucks less than your green mini too.
