Battery pastic wrap falling apart

As the topic title says, I've got (for now) one battery a TrustFire Protected 18650 , that the plastic wrap is kind of crumbling. It's farly new(3 months, maybe 3 or 4 cicles). For now it's not a big issue, because the crack it didn't go all around the battery, and the crack is close to the bottom. I belive it was made by puting it the WF-139 charger, as it's a very tight fit with these batteries.

My question is: The battery is not in use right now. Can I just put some scotch tape around the crack? Will a crack in the battery wrap damage it's components?

The worst possible case is it might cause a short leading to other bad things......i like to use superglue to fill in that small crack and from keeping the wrapper from tearing more, please dont us a lot just enough to spread over it, then use scotch tape over it. I forced one into a tight fitting light and it took a chunk off the bottom wrapper when i was forcing that sucker out. The cell is current in use and it seems to be holding up fine. I tried using heatshrink but could not find one thin enough for use in a light.
