Discussion thread for possible -17mm Zener linear driver- never mind

There is a board missing from our list of drivers and now that the low voltage mystery has been solved for Zener mods I was wondering if someone with Eagle would care to design one in the 17mm size. Ideally it would have vias that line up with and allow stacking of Mattaus’ 16 mm slave board. FET mods are great but maybe others besides me would like a board that can deliver 3-5A (w/slave) regulated. I thought we could start with a discussion of design ideas that allow for both the added trace for lvp and possibly shifting the mcu to the spring side to allow reflashing of installed drivers. Maybe throw up a design for review and tinkering. Ideas? Volunteers?
Already done and I missed it.

What is required? I already have this.

8x7135, 17mm, pre-made for resistor/zener mod (R1 and D1), with R2 and R3 for the voltage divider. The input to the voltage divider is fed directly off VIN so is unaffected by the voltage 'regulator' part.

You won't be able to easily stack a driver with the 16mm slave, unless they are designed for each other....which is something I can do if you like? I can make a "controller board" that contains the MCU and related components all on one side so we can have a nice large spring pad on the reverse side. I can then design a 16mm "slave board" that is made to stack straight over the controller board.

So it'll be a bit taller than normal, but you'd be looking at 4-4.5A 17mm Linear 2S capable LED driver.

Also, I think you've mistakenly put this in the wrong sub-forum.

Oops, your link doesn’t work and somehow I missed adding this board to the thread. I’ll look you up and see if I can find the link then delete this. Must have hit the wrong forum thread, was trying for DIY.

His link works for me.

Too late … I already mined.

Link works, but not as a hotLink for me. If thats the issue, highlight the text, right click, select open in tab (FF anyway).
Sometimes with BLF some links and pic insertions dont work with various punctuation marks near them. The colon might be causing the issue. Add an extra space between the punctuation mark and the link text and it generally makes it right.

Edit: It works fine now.

Followed the 16mm link to his Oshpark account and found it there. It’s been added to the projects thread. I’ll add the shopping cart later. Is it the same as for the larger board?

Link fixed :) Don't worry about having missed it. There was a period where I was making so many boards each week I lost count and had problems staying on top of things!

Has that board been ordered and tested?

I have one now but I'm yet to get it fired up. I'm missing a few minor parts :/

That being said it's based off a similar board I did for RMM and that works fine.
