What is safe to use on a flashlight for lube on its threads and o rings?
i use silicone based lube or ive used air tool oil too which is safe for the rubber orings.
any silicone based lube is good..I used the nexxtorch stuff from DX...

I buy the silicone plumbers lube at Lowes or Home Depot. Same stuff as the Nextorch stuff and it comes in a package that is 3 times the size for $3 and change.
Alright that is good enough for me. I will get so0me sillycone grease when I am out at the parts store or Lowe's, etc.

LOL well I want to protect the light and also have a smooth light when you have to change a battery and such so it is all good. Still that is funny.
I bought NyoGel 760G 10 gm from Lighthound. Great stuff and you don't need a lot. The other recommendations would probably be equally as good too (and cheaper).
Considering the fact that SWMBO has threatened to "Cram it where the sun don't shine" if I buy one more light, I think lube is a wise investment at this stage in my obsession.

I use Super Lube and I highly recommend it.
I used to use Silicone Grease I bought at Home Depot, but it's sticky, messy, and twisties don't twist that smoothly with it. Plus I heard you're not suppose to use it with silicone o-rings.
Super Lube isn't much more expensive and it goes on and comes off easier, it's safe for all o-rings, and it seems to last awhile. It comes in oil and grease forms. I have the oil and really like it. I heard the grease versions works good too.

Remember I was in the doghouse because my wife found my "other" flashlight drawer?
She saw an antique wall table she liked and asked me if I'd buy it for here...I said yes, but the top drawer in it is mine for my flashlights, and no more grief about how many I have. She liked that answer...and I have a new flashlight drawer.
LOL Wise precaution
I bought the NexTorch silicone grease from Manafont, but didn't like it. It felt somewhat gritty on screwing parts toghether and turned the unanodized threads black very quickly, as if it were indeed finely sanding the metal.
This oil from DX, on the other hand, produces a perfectly smooth slide and is also easyer to apply.

+1 on Superlube if you're in the US. I was able to get a small tube at Ace Hardware and it should last a long time. A little goes a pretty long way.
Try Wet Platinum, Pjur Man, ID Millennium, or similar... They're all silicone lubes, but pure and safe for you when she does that. :)
