Eagle Libraries

Hi all,

No idea how useful this will be but I figured I'd start a thread so people can share library components. I am sharing mine via drop box links. If someone can think of a better way to do this (like they have their own FTP server or something) then I'm all ears! Please feel free to include links to your own parts in this thread. The aim is to eventually create a 'master list' of sorts. So if you have an identical part but feel your library file is superior (better labeling or whatever), then we'll update the master list.

I think it would be good info to have in this thread-

How to copy part’s from a .sch or .brd, using 7.2 this is a very simple process no longer requiring a ULP.

Open the file (I always do this from the .sch but it should work from the .brd)
go to the file menu
go to export
the last option is library
Name it what you want, select the 2nd option (for convenience, any will work)

Send me a link and I'll take a look :)

Here is everything I have found…including the ones Mattaus gave me

I’ve added the XM footprint provided by WarHawk. Not sure what everything else is in there lol

Don’t forget the kitchen sink led. Might have to let one of the spammers hang around long enough to download one.

Having a bit of trouble. When I run scripts a small window opens giving me access to my “downloads” folder but only the Zip files are listed but when I open the download folder by accessing it from folders/Computer/C drive they are all there. Do you transfer .lbr files differently. I can open them in eagle but can’t seem to get them into the library. Can I just drag and drop them from downloads to one of the library folders? It looks like there are 3 in the eagle 7.0 lbr folder: electro, element 14, and lt spice. Those are not the library parts but other files associated with eagle. The library files with the eagle icon and .lbr are listed in the library folder after those other 3 folders. I would like a single smaller folder for commonly used parts. Can I do that. Just because I have a computer doesn’t mean I’m good with one.

did you go to the control panel under libraries and turn on or “use” the new .lbr file you imported?

I physically copy the file from the zip into the ldr directory under eagle. Never done it any other way so I'm not sure what else can be done.

I'll have to look I to custom libraries myself.

Baby steps, let’s take one part like the 7135. It’s in my downloads folder with .lbr at the end. It doesn’t even show up when I run scripts. I can drag and drop it into the library folder but not one of my screens resembles Matts in any way and the available commands aren’t the same so there are no green dots to activate. I’m going to sleep now and will try again tomorrow. This is what stopped me last year, computers take glee in pissing me off.

What do you do if it’s not a zip file?

Can you provide screen shots?

Nope, sorry. I bought an ipad because I could no longer access photobucket from my laptop after they updated the site. I’m putting this aside to let my feeble brain unwind and look at other stuff. Can you shoot a laptop screen with an iPhone?

Just take a photo with your phone?

When I worked on the omten switch part I found that a noob error committed last year had disabled most of the libraries but when I entered the library directly from the control panel page they were all there, grey dots and all including the ones I had tried to copy from above. Any tips on gathering the now widely dispersed library files? Is it as simple as creating a folder such as nanjg_105C and filling it with parts?

I just whack every .lbr file I have under the lbr directory wherever eagle was installed. I'm not sure if you can create sub libraries but I can see them Eagle 7 so it must be possible.

Just create directories, I have all your .lbr files in a directory inside the main program directory and it uses them just fine Mattaus

Cool beans then. I keep it simple yo.
