Dimming budget AA light

Hi all,

Not sure if there is such a thing available, but I would like to know if there is a 1 or 2 AA light that is dimmable , or it could be 3 x AAA…. ( So basically a ramping driver, it doesn’t have to be incredibly bright, but you get the idea….)

Any suggestions, thanks!

Anton

How much is the budget for this light, Anton?

Hi JohnnyMac,

around $20 or so??
I live in the land of the Rand…… :open_mouth:

Thanks

there is the sunwayman V20A, but that is WAY outside your budget…

Man, I’ve been carrying my V10R XP-G for so long now that it’s hard to imagine anything else in my pocket. Along with my Benchmade Mini-Griptilian, they are always in my pockets when I leave my house.

These are 2 of the splurges I have made that I have absolutely zero regrets for.

So Sunwayman is the only real option, but at about 4 or 5 times my budget?
Or are there others closer to my budget?

If have ramping mode, for < USD 20, Solarstorm SC01 is a good choice.
But if you mean like variable brightness using magnetic control ring “(list)”:List of lights with infinite variable brightness control rings | Candle Power Flashlight Forum , I don’t think new one available for < USD 20 in regular shops for now.

If there is an infinitely variable output flashlight that takes an AA battery for around 20 bucks, I would sure like to know too.

Thanks Calmaja, this sc01 seems to be what I’m looking for, the low mode can ramp up, pretty cool!

I like my Niteye JA10. Unfortunately, it’s not < $20. I see it’s just under $40 at Banggood ($36.79USD with coupon code “BLF”).

Hi all,

Can anyone confirm that the sc01 can use an AA battery, i see on Fasttech it says only 14500?

Thanks

Thanks for suggestion, it is good to know what is available!

UltraFire UF-H2B

slightly over your budget.
but this one has parasitic drain

Yes, it can use AA battery too. Banggood have NW version although current price is higher than FT (using same coupon code: BLF).
This SC01 is copying Olight S15 (S15 can use 1xAA/2xAA/3xAA/1x14500, better mode, no/not noticeable PWM).

But it seems the Olight S15 doesn’t actually ramp, am i correct?

Not quite what you are asking for, but there is Nitecore Sense AA. It has three modes and it can smoothly "ramp" between them depending on the angle you point the flashlight. Point down to dim and up to horizontal for full power. Less than $30 and small enough to be suitable on a keychain.

Yes, correct. Sorry, I forgot that main focus is ramping :shy:
