Ultrafire F17 overview

Ultrafire F17 sold by Tinydeal.com for $12.07.
For the money it’s a pretty nice light, much nicer than the Ultrafire 501 and 504 series. I would say it’s a step down from Convoy but not bad for $12.07.

There is a retaining ring holding in the aluminum reflector from the rear, o-ring in front of glass lens. DayLighter in his review said his reflector was plastic but this one is aluminum. Led isolation ring built onto reflector.

Tail cap looks pretty watertight.

Head has very thick walls for any light, let alone a $12 light, 4mm if you include threads, about 3.5mm if you don’t.

Body threads and o-rings on tail cap end.

Body threads and o-ring on head end.

Head threads and o-ring.

XM-L2 led.

Hollow pill but it has lots of threads screwing into the very thick head, should have good heat management.

Some shots of the driver for the modders.

I think it’s a nice light for $12.07, much nicer and better built than the 502 and 504 series from Ultrafire. Should have good heat management and looks to be very waterproof. Threads are nice and smooth. The only drawback is a weak driver. The light output is adequate but could be better.

Thanks to 264 for giving me this light in a giveaway. More and better reviews on this light by DayLighter, 264, and BanglaBob.

Looks like an easy light to mod. Is the driver 17mm?Thanks for the review!

20mm driver.

Is there another solder pad that we’re not seeing? I see labels for “LED+” and “26650+”? The F13 had an extra pad that when the emitter lead was moved to, increased tailcap current.

XM-L2 !!! nice

Great Review! Thanks. I could never take apart a flashlight like you did without destroying it.

I just got done modding an F13 and the driver dosen’t look the same to me.Thats why I thought it might be a 17mm driver.
