Hi BLF folks,

Here is some good news for all Opus charger fans

First, the breaking news is the new 2.1 version Opus BT-C3100 is available now :
Opus has granted Gearbest the exclusive rights to be the first website offering the latest BT-C3100, the 2.1 version. Opus supports us to run this campaign at $45 for the first publish, only 70pcs for EU and 30pcs for US, It can be available for ordering right now, the coupon code is: BTC3100. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the 2.1 version will be shipped starting Aug. 27. Any more buyers(from the 101th) will bring the price down to $43, and the first 100 buyers will be given a $2 coupon back. You know this rule from our previous game, right?

2.1 version Opus BT-C3100

EU: http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-batteries/pp_71595.html
US: http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-batteries/pp_71596.html

coupon code is: BTC3100
Price: $45

The improvements of the 2.1 version provided by Henry Xu, the engineer of this dream charger:

1. voltage update rate is 30s instead of 60s.
2. charging voltage is regulated to 4.7v instead of 5.0v, thus loading on power adapter when batteries are flat is less. 5.0v charging voltage has problem in regulating the correct current level due to this over loading current on power adapter, which lead to Panasonic brand Li-ion batteries showed wrong charging capacity value(+25%). With 4.7v charging voltage, the load on power adapter is greatly reduced and thus can make all types of batteries are charged properly.
3. 4.35v charging time can be very long because charging current is regulated in entering the CV stage at 4.12v, which is same as 4.2v type. Now 4.35v charging algorithm is changed to 4.27v.
4. Better safety feature: PCB temperature was used to in controling fan on/off only with 2.0v, now this function is enhenced so that temperature is monitored for entering thermal shutdown mode when excessive high temperautre is reached. It is especially helpful when fan is not running and which can lead to plastic melt down happening.
5. new fan cover make better protection for cooling fan.

Besides, we do a simple video to show the different package for the 2.1 version, more details here:

And a complete review will be public by HJK in the following days

Another is Opus company supports us to run a campaign for BT-C3100 2.0 for only $36 again after coupon. The coupon code is: GB3100. However it has limited units, 50 pcs for EU and 40 pcs for US. If any one missed the last group buy started by tatasal, please feel free to order it now, first come first served

Nice, waiting for HKJ's review before I decide

Is there a possibility of supplying this V2.1 charger with an Australian plug pack? It’s not a problem for me when they have the power supply built in to the charger and just require the appliance cord (i.e. Nitecore i2, i4 etc.) but it’s a bit more annoying when I have to go and buy an Australian plug pack as well as the charger. (I don’t like using adapters…)

is there an (auto) 4.35V switch? or do you still have to open the case

The case still has to be opened, but very easily by taking off the 4 screws, then the whole bottom is exposed, including the selector. Just a two-minute job.

Actually I have brought this issue with Henry Xu, the designer, citing the VP2 design as an example. His logic in putting the selector inside is that with the selector outside, there is a very high chance of it being inadvertently or accidentally switched to another selection and can be dangerous to a new user. (of which I personally agree) Imagine accidentally switching to the 4.35V selection for a 3.7 LifePo cell to be charged. It happened to me one time when I was using my VP2.

oh... Bad design then... !

ordered

Hello LSX,

I will confirm this with Opus, I will let you know once I get that info, thanks for your support

Thanks! I will definitely get one if that plug is available.

Does this do LiFEPO4 charging also? Their description says “3.7 Li-FeO4”.

Also, if yes, does that have to be selected with the same internal switch you mentioned, and then do all 4 bays only do LiFEPO4?

Me too…

Ok, so can we reprogramm v2.0 units with new v2.1 firmware if we have a programmer?

hmm, i was thinking about ordering another charger before the previous GB was ended, but never did.
i’d prefer to wait for HJK’s updated review as well though…
you never know if they have fixed one thing but broken a couple of other things

whole-heartedly recommend this unit .If you buy cheap batteries off ebay ,you just test them and send a message with your test results .No joke two orders(£21) refunded instantly(batteries kept),and one vendor when i contacted him telling him his batteries were ace and pushing 5200mah instead of usual 4400mah ,he replied very sorry can i refund you £2 and you keep batteries.
needless to say i didnt accept his £2. BUt my point is even if they cant translate the english the opus bt-c3100 stands out bold to them and they dont dispute issues. this tool pays for itself in no time, and also helps identify great priced genuine batteries on ebay, ali express etc.
Talking of ali express
brought four zoomie flashlights £2 each shipped. advertised as 18650/3aaa.
when i got them they only take the aaa’s .
so dispute opened and cost me £1 each in end.
plus spotted a skyray 3x cree,+4battteries+charger .£5.50
its on its way according to vendor. big mistake, as of yet unspotted.

I was in a buying mood and just bought one.

Hoping for a good review now

Looks like the price on the C3100 v2.0 went up to 39.00. Can anyone else confirm?

Yes, I just tried the coupon code and it’s $39, but should be $36 as stated in the OP. We’ll have it checked tomorrow as it’s 9:39pm now in Shenzhen, office is closed.

Do we know if the fan is quieter now? He says there's a new fan cover, but does that effect the noise?

Henry Xu sent me two pre-production samples of the v2.1.
Pic below is the pre-production v2.1 (notice the 2.1 upon start-up on the screen). The pre-production version does not have the new logo of OPUS on the current production version printed on the upper right of the charger casing, and can be seen in the OP.
!!
Below is the Charge capacities of the same cells I tested in the v2.0, this time the v2.1 on the left powered by a 15A regulated PSU and the v2.1 on the right powered by the stock psu. Notice the very small differences between the readings from the 15A psu and the Stock PSU. which was one of the issues of the earliest version of the 2.0, but was later on corrected in the later 2.0 deliveries as mentioned by Henry Xu.
!!
Below are the Discharge readings using the stock psu, to be compared to the small variances to the Charge readings on the pic above.
!!

I have also tested a purple Samsung ICR18650-28 4.35v cell. Unfortunately I can no longer find the pic but I can confirm that it was charged to 4.35v in 3:39 hour to 2789mah,
2:49 hrs. to 2799mah in Discharge mode
which was one of the major gripes in the 2.0 for having a very long charging time when 4.35v charging is selected.

Also the fan was more reactive to temperature changes, turning on and off as needed.
