Budget alternative to Fenix LD20 ?

Hi...I am new to flashlights in general, and not really a flashlight enthusiast. So basically I just need one or 2 for around the house, I dont think Id be able to collect them.

My friend recommended to me the Fenix LD20...I think its great, but its too expensive for me, in Canada its about 85USD.

Are there any cheaper Chinese equivalents?

I do have one other light, which I looooooooooove, its the $10 Sipik, its the brightest light Ive seen, but its only 1AA, it only has one super bright mode...

So should I get a Fenix LD20 / Chinese clone, or maybe even just get another Sipik and save the money?

Many thanks!

The only light i know that is comparable to the ld20 would be the jetbeam ba20, it is very well made no flashy modes just hi and low. It can be bought for around $37-39 us .Rated at 270lm on hi and 20l on low.It operates on 2 aa alk or nimh. Very durable and high quality.

I love the quark mini aa2 by 4sevens. My friend has it and swears by it!

Thanks a lot Gen and Miz for the fast reply, I will look into those.

Do you think the Fenix is worth it though if I spend the extra money? Or is it overpriced for what you get?

The ld20 is only 65.60 at manafont plus free shipping.

Take a look at the Solarforce L2r. It's probably the best budget 2AA flashlight you'll find.

If you really want to spend $60, i think there are a lot of better options than the LD20.

I suppose you could give these new SaintFire lights a shot. No one here has any experience with them yet but they look very nice. I will be buying the K25 soon. http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/saintfire-k25-xre-5mode-memory-led-flashlight-set-1aa2aa-p-7297 http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/saintfire-k20-xpe-5mode-memory-led-flashlight-set-2aa-p-7298 I wish the K20 could use a single cell and the K25 had a clip!

If you must get a fenix, the e21 is more or less just as good for half the price. Or if you just want a 2AA light, the romisen n3 is almost as good as the e21 for half again the price. It's probably the best cheapo 2AA light.

Here's a review of the k20. It's in German, but here is the translated link:

I think paying extra for a fenix is well worth the price. You are paying premium for quality and warranty.

Also consider the ITP SA2 Eluma R5 great quality , reasonably priced at $ 39.99, 3 mode brightness with a nice low of 6lm ,med 44lm and high of 230lm. and strobe if that floats you're boat. Go to lightjunction.com with a code you can get it for $36.15 us. If you don't mind using a cpf code. Code:cpfsave12 . Fenix LD20$53.75 with code. Sorry no links, using my phone.

The LD20 is a nice light. I like mine a lot. It was my first non budget light. However, I probalby would never have been able to buy it at over $50. I got mine for $35. For the level of build quality, it is priced where it should be at close to $60, given curent market pricing. ITP lights are good alternatives for a little less money. There are cheaper lgihts that are very good lights for the money. They do not match the quality of the LD20 and lack the more sophisticated interface and regulation of the LD20, but honestly, for most users, you probably don't actually need it. With that said, the two lights I grab on days when I want to make absolutely sure they won't die on me are my LD20 and my ITP C7. I generally will grab one or the other as either EDC or back-up on any given day.

esrevenge if your going on price the you can go for the Ultrafire C301 for $17.70 this has an XRE led and only has 1mode

Go for Solarforce l2r plus 3 mode drop-in. Great quality and output with no strobe nonsense.

I'd also recommend the Fenix E21...great build quality, two basic modes at half the price, and you don't have the big head that you get with the Solarforce L2R. I have both and they're both very nice however. Check out shiningbeam.com if you want to see the ITP's and Jetbeams...awesome service and good prices.

Yeah what rezniq said...

Solarforce 2x AA w/ 3 mode drop-in $21.99 + $2.00 shipping

Very solid choice, P60 drop-in too.

The Fenix LD20 was my first high quality LED flashlight. Mine is the R4 version which is no longer made. Still one of my favorites though..

Thanks to everyone for all the recommendations and talking the time to post links, I appreciate it.
