[26-AUG-2014] Bit of spring/autumn cleaning finished

Hi everyone,

It’s almost autumn in the northern hemisphere, but spring is around the corner in the southern hemisphere. Regardless, I just did a bit of cleanup around here:

  • The front page is now simply the “Recent Posts” page. This makes loading the front page a lot faster and lighter for new users, since there are no more heavy images or “frontpage’d” posts on the front page. Any important messages that need to be posted in the future will just be added to info boxes that I can place on different locations of any or all pages.
  • Another change I made was to clean up the Sticky posts. There are constantly so many new reviews (an excellent problem to have here! Thanks!) that I can’t keep up with manually marking them as Sticky and moving them into the reviews sub-category. So I made the following changes:
    • In the dedicated reviews sub-categories in the AA, AAA, 18650, and Rechargeable Batteries section there were a bunch of Sticky’d posts. They are no longer Sticky. This will help to see the latest reviews in those categories without wading through several pages of old Sticky posts. If you are posting a new review or test, please fee free to put it in the relevant Reviews sub-category, if one exists for that category. It would be helpful if reviews could be prefaced with the word Review: in the title.
    • Same thing for the “DIY Parts Reviews” and “Featured Mods” subcategories. If you feel your mod is good enough, go right ahead and post it in the “Featured Mods” subcategory.

As always, please do your best to put posts in the appropriate category so that everything is reasonably well organized. If necessary, you can move your old posts into a more appropriate category by clicking the Edit tab and selecting a different category in the Forums menu. It would be especially helpful if the creators of reviews could move them into the appropriate Reviews subcategory if one exists for that battery type.

I’m not sure what to do yet about the main forum categories that have a lot of Sticky’d reviews but no sub-category for Reviews. I’ll probably create some additional Reviews sub-categories in the future. But that’s enough for one day.

Thanks for being a part of BLF! Have fun.

Thanks sb.
Always appreciate your efforts.

That sounds like a good clean-up, adapting BLF to the increased traffic, thanks!
