I’m looking for a throwy headlight (headmount) with remote battery pack for boating. I’ve got four driving lights in the bow to light up what’s ahead but would like a headlight to spot the shoreline, reefs, etc. to keep my orientation. I will be standing up with my head above the windshield but would still like limited spill so as not to light up the bow. I’d like to throw to 200-250 meters and <$100 if possible. Recommendations?
My throwiest light is a Convoy C8 (usually prefer flood) and would like more throw than that.
The only ones I’m aware of are super cheap pieces of crap but on a boat for the use you mentioned I prefer zoomies (actually the only time I prefer them). Maybe consider an SK98 with a headband instead of a dedicated headlamp.
There are headlamps with zoom. I'm not recommending this one, just grabbed as a quick example.
Those 7 dollar jobbies were pretty throwy, so much had to out the opaque tape over it to make it much less throwy for in close work
Yep, I used glad press n seal on mine. Free and can be replaced easily
I’m considering this
wire tied to a bicycle helmet and plugged into the cigarette lighter. I can’t find any decent beamshots but from what I’ve seen it looks pretty throwy.
