Today the new XTAR VP4 Charger was announced. It shares the same features as the XTAR VP2 but has 4 bays. It seems that not only the price of $39.90 for the VP4 is good but perhaps some other products from XTAR have had price reductions as well.
Missing a couple of items I want in a high end four slot charger. No ability to change charging voltages for different battery types and chemistries like the VP2 has and based on the photo’s signs above the battery holder sliders only the two outer slots can recharge at 1 Amp.
I would also like to see the ability to check and report battery capacities which would allow better battery matching and monitoring of batteries to determine which need to be retired and replaced.
The VP2 normally $49.90 at xtardirect, is at $34.90 now (which is a good deal), but postage is a killer for me. By the time I factor that in I can buy local for pretty much the same money.
Is it the same company (XtarDirect)? And are you sure about delivery, I am OS (Australia). I checked a delivery quote for Arkansas just for curiositys sake and it was only a few bucks (under $5)… but to me it was US$29. I can get one here in Aus, with an Aus plug walwart PSU that is AU standards approved for just under AU$60.
Anyway, would you have a link for me maybe, perhaps… its certainly worth a shot…
It is about the VP4 …and some price dropping of Xtar stuff in general as per the OP, like the VP2… as the VP2 has been reviewed favourably, and the 4 bay versions of 2 bay chargers arent always the same quality, I personally would prefer the VP2 until someone reviews the 4.
Wow. I am surprised at the lack of detail by XTAR. Instead of continuing to build on a good style and design, they took a step backwards. They took away many of the nice goodies that were on the VP2.
