Flipper Knife MG brand Blitzwing "Lightning" someone tried it ?

Its a clone of the Wilson combat knife selling for $530 USD. But from the pictures looks better than the original.
It claimed to be germanium D2 steel, use ball bearing washers and titanium alloy with the option of Damascus-like finish on the handle.
Bad point : its expensive for a Chinese knife… around $80 or more on ebay and aliexpress.

An expensive clone is still a clone. Get a Sanrenmu or an Enlan, at least they’re honest. With these, you don’t know what you’re getting.

Thats some great advice. You can almost bet your life that its just another cheap falsely advertised Chinese knife. Even if both knives were the same $15 price, Id still chose an Enlan/Bee EL-01. IMO, dont throw your money away. Buy something that has been heavily reviewed and has earned its reputation.

I already got two EL-01, one of my favourite knife.
I know it might be a average knife but I like the design.

Since you like the knife, maybe buy 1 or 2 more versions to change it up. The price is certainly right. Check Fasttech for the EL-01A Stainless Steel Folding Knife. Click the pull-down window for all the different versions and prices. If you find better delivered prices on this popular knife, please let us know. Although I own many, Ive been carrying my first EL-01 for well over 2 years without issue.

I know this doesn’t fall in to the budget category but you might try buying a actual knife from the maker rather than a fake/knock off/ ect. yes they can be expensive but some of them are worth every penny, some not so much.

Agreed that $80 is a little much for any knockoff. That’s the beauty of the cheap ones. If Enlan or Ganzo or SanRenMu turn to junk one day, and that’s a big ‘if’, you’re only out $15-$20. I’d be pretty upset to roll the edge on any $80 knife or find out the hard way that it’s junk.

Also, that price point actually gives you some decent USA made folders like the Spyderco Native, Benchmade mini Grip and a bunch of USA made Kershaw flippers. Those knockoffs look good, but too risky for my taste. I don’t doubt that the Chinese can get their hands on high end steel, but I wouldn’t bet 80 bucks on it

Kershaw Scrambler is $22 at amazon right now. kershaw scrambler

Mine arrived yesterday - it’s a nice knife for the money. The finish is nice, operation is smooth, build quality seems good and it has assisted opening.

I just did a review for the Kershaw Swerve and I’m really impressed with the knife I got for 17 bucks. It looks like Kershaw is trying to compete with the direct from China knives. Everyone I’ve shown the Swerve to likes it. I’m going to buy the FreeFall next.

I have the FreeFall. It's very nice, though I don't have the Swerve to compare it to. Right now I carry a Kershaw Clash. I'm a total Kershaw fanboy. 8)

My son in law has the Clash and it’s an awesome knife. I asked him why he stopped carrying the Cryo I gave him and he said the pivot pin fell out. Oops. I’m a Kershaw fan boy too, but some of their knives have been hit-and-miss for me. I love the Skyline but mine came with a chipped off tip. Doesn’t affect the functionality but my OCD doesn’t like it very much. But overall as a brand, they make some of my favorite knives. And it’s still fun seeing the wife flick open her Kershaw Brawler to open the mail. She has arthritis and can’t open a regular pocket knife.

I noticed that there’s a G10 version of the Cryo that doesn’t seem to have the quality problems the original had. And I’ve been eyeing that Freefall/Swerve/Flashlight gift pack for $27.

Kershaw offers GREAT value and very, very good knives.
I also second those suggesting Ganzo and Enlan knives, I have more of each brand and they are very good knives at an amazing price.
It is a good time to be knife-aholics.

I have the Brawler. It's pretty nice, but I don't like the small & stiff clip.

I think the handle of that Cryo is G10 on one side and steel on the other, otherwise I would pick one up.

By the way, the Freefall and Swerve in that gift pack have black blades and they are not assisted-openers.

If that doesn't bother you, $27 is a great deal.

Oooh I did know they are black but didn’t notice they aren’t assisted. Thanks for the heads up!

Hmm I didn’t even think about the new Cryo. It would have to be a frame lock to keep the same design, so it would have to be metal on the locking side. I was hoping it was just the same blade and speed safe assist but with a different frame. Oh well, there’s no shortage of pocket knives that I want, so I’ll probably pass on it.

Do you own the Thermite? That one has been high on my list for a while. My son carries the Chill I think. We’re a Kershaw family. I got him one, he lost it, and I owed him a favor, so I gave him mine. Now there’s an empty space in my knife roll :frowning:

Have you noticed that there is more than one variation of the Brawler? My wife and son-in-law’s versions are slightly different. I keep meaning to get both knives in the same room to photograph…

No. I don't usually get knives that have handles that even partially metal.

I know that some Brawlers are assisted-openers and some are not. Mine is assisted. :)

+1

And quote about Kershaw, I have many around my house, and for the price they are absolutely OK!

I don’t have that particular model but I have a different model named “Damm” from the same manufacturer (MG Knives). It’s an awesome folder with impeccable quality in every detail (titanium frame lock with steel insert, bearing pivot system, Bohler N690 blade with spanto grind). I have the titanium + G10 version but there’s a full titanium version too. The slot in the flipper is for an optional GID tritium vial.

The Damm next to my EL-01:

I have the new G10 Cryo and really like it. Yes it's steel on one side. I wasn't sure how I was going to like only having G10 on one side, but it's been fine for my use. I picked up the G10 Cryo after I lost my Ontario RAT Model II (I almost picked up another one).

Damm, that's beautiful isti242. I want one.

Nice blog you got going there.

The MG Damn is easy enough to find.

They appear to be a company that does reproductions of American knives.

Is this similar to a Benchmade? A Peng.

I doubt it’s D2 steel. Hopefully it’s 9Cr18MoV with a decent heat treatment.
