looking for 1st 1000 lumen flashlight

As the title states I am looking for about 1000 lumen flashlight that uses Li-Ion and alkaline batteries. If someone can point in the the direction of a reasonably priced model I would appreciate it. it doesn’t need to be overly fancy, just for camping and around the house.
thanks scott

If such a monster exists it will only last a few minutes at 1000 lumens, alkalines are poor performers at high output, they work well at low current draws like remote controls and such.

Lumintop SD10. Only 800 lumens though.

XinTD X3 too.

Regular XM-L or XM-L2 driven hard will get you close…but w/o multi emitters or stacked batteries 1000 lumens is what is “claimed max” for most of these lights, and real world performance is much much lower than “Chilumens”

Get a Convoy S series at 2100-2800mA from fasttech

Or do what many of us did, start off with a “generic zoomie” Sipik SK98 (or clone) then go from there

There are a good number of 1000 lumen & higher lights that use 18650 Lithiums, but a light for Alkalines i can’t think of any “stock” lights with a OTF true measured 1K lumens output, and if there was the run time would be bad as alkalines can’t hold up under high drain loads, not even the best Energizer Industrials or Duracells.
To get 1000 plus lumens in a stock light your going to need a multi-emitter one (or a hard-driven single XM-L) either way it will draw at least 3 or more amps from the cells, a load Alkalines cant keep up unless it holds 12 or more D sizes with many in parallel and the size of a bus.

This would get you a lot of lumens, not quite 1000 but you won’t be disappointed, but alkalines will give you full output for a minute or two if your lucky, you should get eneloops and a smart charger to go with it

I won’t work on lithium though

thanks for the quick replies. It doesn’t need to be a true 1000 lumens, 500 true lumens would be more than enough. I just assumed something labeled 1000 would probably only put out half that.

I just got a opus charger and eneloop equivalents

Why stop at 1000? >> Nitecore EAX.

that is sweet but way more than I should spend.

I forgot about that particular light. definitely high output on Eneloops, but i doubt the run time they tested were on measly alcaleaks.

Get this light then, it puts out 600 lumens, you get an hour on eneloops but don’t use high for more then 10 mins because the head will get too hot (if you use high long enough you could melt the body).
It won’t work on lithium, but its been tested and does get 600 lumens
This is a BLF edition light and i doubt more will be made when they run out

You probably have to settle for lesser lumens then. EA41 960lm 4xAA ($50).

Or the Sunwayman D40A, puts out a rated 980 lumens. Very similar in design to the Nitecore EA41.

Neither of them work with Li-ions though.

Trustfire TR-3T6 [Fasttech for guaranteed genuine], it will work off 2 or 3 li-ions, or 4 AA’s. Output is a bit less with the AA’s but I’m sure its still close to 1000, only runs for 20 mins on high though.

If you can dispense with the need to use AA’s, I’ll second a Convoy light, though I’m more partial to the M1 as it offers some throw as well as still being pocketable. For camping, if you’ll be close to a vehicle just have a single-slot recharger running off a cigarette lighter usb port. If not, take a couple extra 18650’s with in a waterproof carry case.

Only AA so not quite what you wanted but I can only agree with the above post, the D40A is much better IMO than the EA41 (or EA4). I wouldnt have the EA4(1).

The D40A is an awesome light depite not accepting li ions. Runs great on Eneloops.

XinTD X3 runs OK on 3x AA and better on 18650 or even 26650. Its not a bad light.

(Try if code “BLF” works.)

The XIN TD X3 from gearbest or equivalent would indeed be a good choice, being able to run 3 AA, a single 18650 or a 26650.

There was a group buy here at one time i believe for that light ?

Thats where I got mine., well worth the <$30. I just searched, sadly the codes no longer work though (the one code I tested anyway, there were several codes for various tints, never know your luck on these things).

Wont take protected cells, at least nothing over 67mm anyway.

Would 22670’s fit (as long as they were truly 67mm)?
