Need- 14mm Driver for Haiku

Hello, I’m in need of a good 14mm driver for Haiku LE. I would like to get a 4mode or programmable modes by clicking. I have only found one at sandwich shoppe. It’s a little pricey, not sure if I can get 4 modes. I’ve saw they do offer it at request. I’d like to have more options. Something programmable would be cool. I jumped the gun and bought dr jones lucidrv drivers and they’re too big.
Want to run single cr123 and 3.7 rechargeables.
Thank you, DB

Hi DB, welcome to BLF!

Mattaus, a member here made (makes?) a 10mm driver that you might be able to use with a bit of a spacer-type-thing, but 14mm drivers do seem to be a bit thin on the ground. Most of the ones I could find seem to be boost drivers for AA cells, and/or had loads of horrible strobes :frowning:

Good luck in your quest,

Woody

Thanks woody. I’ll check those out. Thanks for the welcome also. I’ve been hanging out for a while. Just recently registered though.
It seems like there should be more 14mm drivers available. I guess I could use anything under 14mm. Guess I should have stated in original post, I would like to have it around 1.4A.
Thanks, DB

Easy enough to expand the BLF12DD (which is just a expanded BLF10DD), make it 14mm

Then program the ATtiny with STAR and bobs yer uncle (as they say in the UK)

Not sure I could reduce the SK68 5*7135 though

Also not sure it would work on anything other than 3.7vdc Li Ion’s though…the cr123 is 3vdc correct, maybe a 16340

That Haiku LE is a pretty sweet looking light!

There is a 13mm boost driver at FT (says it’s only for up to 1.5vdc though), you would have to figure out a way to expand the ground ring by 1mm for it to fit properly

I understood about 2% of that post.
Hopefully one of these days, Bob will become my Uncle. For now, I’d like for Bob to set me up with a cool driver to put in my Haiku’s…haha. I have some aleph cans setting here impatiently waiting to be filled with goodies. I don’t know what it takes to expand a board. I’m assuming in order to use the BLF12DD, I’d have to take everything from an existing driver and put it on the blf12dd??? I don’t know if I should try to tackle that at this point.

I’m checking into leads and appreciate the response, guys. I’m still open to suggestions. I’d like to see what options are available. I’d like to stick a few together. I didn’t have a clue that these would be so hard to find. It’s an Aleph can, figured it was a common size.
Thanks again, DB

Edit: I’ve since learned that DD stands for direct drive. Who would have thunk it?
I realize how stupid my post must look to you guys. I am resisting the urge to delete most of it :zipper_mouth_face:

Yo dude! Scram! Don’t come over here and buy all the kick butt lights too!!!

A few quick googles pulls up these. Not sure if it is even in the realm of DBs wishes or desires??

Your homeboy, Str8

Thanks Ric…if that’s your real name. I don’t even know who you are anymore. I’m actually looking for a driver ole buddy.
The dudes that hang over here are up on the technical side of things. If there’s not one commercially available, they can just make it. …that’s why I have came here to seek their help and advise. I have climbed a three days journey to the top of BLF Mount, to ask a question.
Wooooooo! To be the man, you gotta beat the man!!! Woooooo!
DB

Do you want direct drive or one with 7135’s?

I will make the board if you like…that is AFTER my wife gets out of the hospital for our daughters birth and after we get our house moved…been one HECK of a busy week! I haven’t slept in over 24 hrs and counting…and I CAN’T get time off from work…weeeeee

That would be awesome! I think I have a DD in the works, thanks to your referral. That might give me something to play with in the meantime. A 7135 driver would be awesome, when you get time. Tell the doc to give her something to spit that baby girl out, so you can fix my driver. j/k… Congrats on the new baby and house! Hope you get some sleep soon, sounds like your gonna need it.
Hit me up when all is settled and you have the time to get started. I’d like to make a few LE’s to play with and for selection. I have 2 Haikus…1 w/xml reflector and 1 w/xpg… I’d like to make up a couple for each.
Thank you, DB

Do the oshpark drivers have parts soldered to them or do you have to to that yourself, noob to the ash park stuff :8)

A 7135 Driver will not work with single CR123A, only with 3.7V batteries. For CR123A you would need a boost driver.
