I’ve been looking to purchase this light for a while. I was going to buy it from HKeq first but they ran out of stock, then I saw they had it on Amazon for an even better price and free shipping.

I would have considered it but I just purchased the Nitecore EA4W from Illumn for $30.
30 USD for the EA4 is a steal. I like the look better of the EA4(wished SMW had used the same design as F40a on D40A), only concern i had was the switch and heatsink. But for 30USD it’s a no brainer.
Yes, it was a no brainer for me! Actually one of my favorite lights now. And I like you, prefer the looks of the Nitecore better. The switch issue was fixed. I only wished it had a lower low, 65 lumens ain’t low. I love the tint on it. Did have to pay tax and a small shipping fee, $36 and change total. I always wanted a (4) AA light. Passed on a group buy for the D40A regretfully a long while back. And I am passing on the group buy for the Lumintop SD10 for $40. This Nitecore offering has satisfied me!
Doesnt it have a moon mode? Or is that the newer version? On the other hand, you don’t use that kind of light for low lighting scenarios really. Could as well have a small inexpensive 1xAA or AAA or keychain light with you for that purpose.
High jacking my own thread here, but the SD10 for 40 USD is another great deal. I’m tempted but havent been able to make myself read through all the details. It’s not the same as the regular version? 3A? Does that mean it’s brighter than the regular version? I really like the concept that it can take any battery thrown at it, but I would like it to be as bright as possible more. I’m considering signing up for it as a christmas gift.
Yes, it is the new version that has the moonlight mode, a better UI. But I love this light, and I really like the 65 lumen mode, use it as a candle for lighting up a room with a soft glow
The SD group buy closed. They closed it early and unexpectedly at 100 units. I was on the list but am passing as it is too similar to my Nitecore in function. Plus I have spent way too much on 4 new lights recently :money_mouth_face: I think the SD10 tops out at 800 lumens.

Haha, we must have miscommunicated, I prefer CW. I never really understood why so many prefer NW. Wonder how large the percentage is. Have there been polls?
I prefer the look of the F40a, such a cool looking light. I wish they used the same design for the D40a. But I want the beam of the D40a. It got lot more throw, and I never need coloured LEDS. I’d say in general, from what ive read on forums, D40A is the more popular light. F40a seems a bit more niched.

The colored LEDs in the F40A are cool until you realize you have not much use for them in real life. The reflector is also a compromise because it is much smaller in diameter than the one in the D40A and won’t have near the throw of the D40A. IMO the D40A belongs in everyone’s collection.
D40A rocks. It just does. Sadly for Will it does not ship to Australia, at least not to my part of the country.

I want this light bad, but I would be in deep sneakers if I bought it after just spending out for a couple of EE X6
