KRONOREVIEW:

The LuckySun P26650-L2 is a single 26650 flashlight with a single XM-L2 emitter. The flashlight comes with a nice lanyard. It is shipped with ample protection in a sturdy, retail cardboard box. Light is controlled with a tailcap reverse clicky. There are 6 modes, starts on high (no memory) and UI is (H/M/L/Strobe/Turbo/SOS). It has a SS bezel, AR lens and smooth reflector.

PROS:

VERY solid construction. Survived a 5 ft. Drop on concrete (unplanned…lol).
Toughened glass AR lens.
Plenty of knurling and ridges for grip.
HA-III matte gun-metal gray coating.
Reverse polarity protection (confirmed).
Mostly solid, emitter shelf. Should have a decent thermal path.
Anodized threads enabling lockout.
Pleasant beam pattern with a smooth transition from corona to spill.
Beefy, square threads.
Fits protected or un-protected 26650s.
Tailstands (but somewhat unstable with lanyard).
Cutouts on tailcap also allow for use with gloves.
Reverse clicky with half-press advance.

CONS:

6 mode, funky UI (High/Medium/Low/Blinkies/Turbo/SOS).
One lanyard hole.
Little to no thread lube.
2.4 amps on Turbo (Wonder if this is newer production emitter like issue on BLF-X6-SE?).

Well protected on inside with ample foam packing. Just light and lanyard.

Logos. I don’t know why it says ‘bicycle’ on it, there was no mount included.

Head separated.

Square threads.

Cathode spring side. Notice the reverse ‘s’ on logo.

LED views.

In hand.

Tailcap end. Tailcap does not come off. It is either one piece, or glued together. Only 1 lanyard hole.

Thumb relief.

DECONSTRUCTION

Nice, brass retaining ring removed.

Bezel and smooth reflector removed.

Driver pics. Appears to be a mostly solid shelf with small hole in center.

Inside emitter view

Inside battery tube. Anode spring and ‘Nico Nature’ logo.

Results from an unintentional 5 ft. drop onto concrete. Oops. Cosmetic damage only.

BEAMSHOTS/NIGHTSHOTS:

Beamshot closeup on stained concrete floor.

Control shot.

Turbo beam shot. Lights it up really well. 2.4 amps.

High beam shot. 1.5 amps.

Medium beam shot. .7 amps.

Low beam shot. Amps unknown…wouldn’t show on my DMM.

GITD (Glow-in-the-dark) o-ring on business end.

SUMMARY

Build quality and attention to detail makes this another nice light from LuckySun. Quality HA-III anodization in a nice gun-metal gray, square cut threads, intricate brass driver retaining ring, decent thermal path, lockout, 26650 battery…a lot to like here. Machining quality also makes this quite a value at this price. And even though it is a 26650 size light, it is still compact and completely jacket-pocketable. The UI is somewhat jankity. Overall, though, a well executed little light!

KRONOMETER patented rating: 4 out of 5.

Thank you. Real nice light but, I think my eyes are deceiving me. How thick does the shelf look to you? eebowler’s eyes says 0.5mm.

Hmmm…not sure. I’ll try to put another eyeball on it later and check.

Thanks for the review Kronological .

Thanks Krono. Really good info there. Nice size to battery size ratio there, but yet still appears to have some decent heat sinking surface.

Thank you Krono for the nice review.

It looks like really well-built at that price. The driver has four “zero” current limiting resistors but the current draw on Turbo is “only” 2.4A? I wonder what is limiting the current. Nanjg 105C driver seems to be able to fit in there.

Thanks for the nice review. The light does not appeal to me, but the size is great for a flashlight.

What size driver does this light take, looks nice, nice review

thanks for the review! looks interesting!

18mm

I’m not sure, but it looks closer to 3/4-1mm…but then again, I’m only eye-balling it.

You can get it for less than $20 from GB. Info here.

Very nice. I think i gonna need one :p

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks

Thanks for the Review + Link.

nice 26650 flashlight ,what size is the reflector?

Yeah… that’s exactly what I did. Didn’t like the mode sequence so I replaced the driver with the Nanjg 105C one.
Got rid of them blinkies as well

Nice light for $20. Nice review and beam shots, it looks well made. I wish I could find a light like that but with a side button.

Have a look at Warsun & Co.
I have the A9, which can also be used without the extension as a single 26650 light - great light!

Wow, you have one of these LuckySun light? Do you like it?
