Does this seem like a decent flashlight?

Running a single 18650

An unbiased observation...

Nice. Link?

Yep its not bad at all. And this is the cheapest place to get it.

I've got one inbound for $38.00, probably about 5 more days or so before it arrives; we'll see.

Nicely done. I thought maybe the photo's were still too vague to tell and I figured those weren't exactly the most popular photo's of this model on the net. I'm more intrigued by the X9 than the X8 but am curious why it's so inexpensive if it allegedly puts out more light. Just because it's not regulated? In any case, I think I might pull the trigger. However, I thought I was getting something that wasn't popular here yet but it looks like you guys have jumped on board. Maybe I need to start over, haha.

@VFMaddict

Do you have the X9 and if so, what do you think its output compared to the likes of the STL-V2 and similar? If you don't have any of those to compare to, then just base your opinion off of reviews and beam shots here. Thanks

Wow, very, very nicely done, yes sir :O Looks like a professional and expensive light.

I have the X8 and the STL-V2 currently in-hand and I can't see how the X9 can be brighter or throw better than the 2 cell / larger head STL-V2, my X9 is in-bound so I can't directly compare it yet, but I can't imagine that it is brighter??

Yeah, I didn't think it would actually outperform a light like the STL-V2. Just curious how it stacks up. If I get the X9 it would be for my dad and I feel better giving him a single cell 18650 for its simplicity and safer operation.

Thank you so much for sharing that info, can't wait for mine to arrive early next week probably.

@picrthis

Maybe you can do a comparison between the X9, X8, STL-V2 and BC40? I was looking through your list of lights and realized you also have the BC40, which is another option. And additionally, maybe a quick comparison between the 3xXM-L lights such as the TR-3T6 and 3xT6 3800. Just your personal observation.

I'd say the STL-V2 is the brightest, throws the best, has a large hot-spot and has a very white tint to it; no yellow or green detected. I haven't compared it yet against the triple LED models yet though, However all the other lights you mention, the STL-V2 beats them in my opinion. The BC40 for the money ($59.00) is built well, and feels solid and is a simple design; yet more rugged than the STL-V2, so I guess it really comes down to what your looking for or need.

Are you going to be brave and use 2 x 16340 or just stick to 1 x18650?

I'll be using 1 x18650 Redilast 3100, I don't have any 16340's.

So I'm curious... why is that being brave? I guess I don't fully understand the differences between using 1x18650 and 2x16340, other than it might exceed the rated voltage and only run on high (direct drive?).

in short, too much voltage can burn stuff up
