Has anyone tried Coast G19 (1xAAA)?

On Coast’s site it claims to have 3hr15min runtime. 54 lumens. Pretty decent performance.

Anyone has tried and can confirm this?

Also, I wonder if there’s any other 1XAAA LED light that has a similar output (around 50lm) and similar runtime performance?

I saw it in my local supply store, but the lens is kinda making me not to buy it.

You’re not going to get 54 lumens for three hours from 1xAAA. You might get an hour (or so). But that’s about it. No doubt, theybare probably milking FL-1 standards by using an alkaline battery and running it until it dims WAYYY down to five lumens. But if you want a solid 54 lumen output with NiMH, count on maybe 45 minutes to an hour.

StorminMatt you’re right. I think Coast G19 has perhaps 20 lumens output.

I like the runtime and the simple single-mode on the Coast G19. Good for using around the house to looks for items in the closet/drawer (just one-press, no need to twist to the right mode).

Any other single-mode 1xAAA flashlights with this similar (or better) spec?

- <= $10 (Coast G19 is around $10)

- 1 mode (>= 20 lumens)

  • >= 2.5hr runtime (Eneloop AAA)

Best to have a clip option also.

I have a Coast 1xAAA flashlight- G10 I don’t know how similar it is to the G19 but,
I got mine as a “Free Gift” when I picked up a Coast pocket knife- just paid $3.50 S&H

Here is the link. Very short survey ( like 4 questions) For the question, “What product did you purchase?’ just enter” DX340” that is a pocketknife model #. No proof of purchase is needed.
See pics below: Very bluish tint. Fair to good build quality. Decently packaged for a sub-$4 light.

From this review output of Coast G10 is around 18lm, similar to Med mode of ITP A3. Runtime around 2hr 15min.

I wonder about the Small Sun ZY-R804 1xAAA. Is it a single-mode light? Anyone has the actual lumens/runtime?

Fenix E05 single-mode has v. good performance but it is way overpriced now.

There isn’t any single-mode 1xAAA similar to Coast G10/G19 or Fenix E05 single-mode in the market <= $10?

The current generation Olight I3s AAA with XP-G2 on medium 20 lumen mode draws only 100mA, giving 8 hours from standard Eneloop AAA. They really improved driver efficiency for medium mode.

Also Rayus has the single mode AAA CO1 35 lumen for 4 hours.

Just tried the Maglite AAA LED Solitare. OSH has it on sale this wk.

Runtime was around 1hr 40min using Eneloop AAA. @ 1hr 45min the light just shut off by itself — a bit short of 2hr. The flashlight’s head was sort of ‘loose’ and felt like it was going to fall off the body. A bit disappointing experience.

35 lumen for 4 hours is really quite nice. Good enough to use around the house during a short power outage.

I just wished there were a single-mode AAA by Olight @20-35lmn… .

Shining Beam sells Rayus C01 for $12 but including shipping it’s $16. I’d jump on the Rayus C01 if there’s a discount/Free Shipping going on to keep it close to $10… .

Thanks for the link Badger. I went ahead and took the survey and paid the $3.50. It arrived yesterday. It’s very different than the G19.

There’s no lens, just the LED centered in an open aluminum reflector. However, because of that, the beam’s wider instead of the pencil beam of the G19 and more useful. No clip. Like you said, the beam’s bluish but the example I received doesn’t seem as blue as yours. I put in a 1.5V lithium cell instead of the alkaline cell that came with it and it seemed to improve the beam and made it somewhat brighter.

Not the greatest build quality but at least it’s all aluminum. Not bad for a total of $3.50.

|( Survey light both button cell and AAA.

The Romisen RC-3007 is cheap, bright and simple to operate. I have not tested runtime. They claim 148lm. That’s probably about right with a 10440; the apparent brightness with a AAA is about half.

You need to read up what ANSI FL1 standards are, they aren’t milking anything.

As a gift the Maglite Solitaire 1AAA LED flashlight is lightweight compared to Coast G10/G19 and the price fits the bill (got a couple of them when last on sale before ’Xmas). Runtime is a bit less than 2 hour but I am willing to lower my expectation a bit. However I’m finding the threads on the head are just too loose. Seems some other folks have similar complaints, and the tailcap can also loosen up and the light falls off the keychain.

Is there a way to fix all that loose threads? For the head perhaps put in a slightly thicker O-ring? Other ways to keep the flashlight’s tailcap tight?

A slightly thicker O-ring is the way to go but I’ve also used plumber’s/teflon tape on threads to tighten things up. It works but the only drawback is you have to replace it every so often as it will unravel after removing the head or tail a few times.

Put some silicone grease on the O-ring but still a bit loose.

The ID of the heads are different—some heads have 0.05-0.1mm larger ID than other heads, and that made the head loose… . This happened on a batch of Solitaires I bought. Looks like the machining on the Solitaire LED AAA’s head isn’t completely accurate.

Ordered some 12mm OD x 10mm ID x 1mm Rubber O-rings (couldn’t find Silicone O-rings) from FastTech and see if that’d help when they arrive.

Also ordered the SingFire SF-346 and SF-348 (one is clip-on one has keyhole) see what the runtimes would be when they arrive. If anyone owns any of these and have a rough runtime (to 50% brightness) for NiMH AAA pls feel free to post.
