KronoReview: Odepro M37 Flashlight

KronoReview of the Odepro M37 . This item was provided by BangGood/Neal for review.

^ Product page/website pics. ^

This is the third light I have reviewed from Odepro. Odepro is part of Brinyte. Odepro must be their budget-oriented line of lights. They are reasonably priced, and offer decent features for their price-points. The M37 is a keychain light with some common design elements with premium flashlights. A little info from BangGood first:

BangGood regular price: $13.59.

KRONOREVIEW:

The Odepro M37 is a single AAA flashlight with a single, cool white, XR-E emitter. The flashlight comes with a thoughtful, swiveling keychain-type connector. It is shipped with ample protection in a sturdy, cardboard box. Light is controlled by rotating head (twisty). The body is only two pieces: Head & integrated battery tube/tail. There are 5 modes (L/M/H/Strobe/SOS), and the M37 has last mode memory. This light looks very similar to my Fenix LD01. I have taken several photos, including shots of the M37 with the LD01. I have been EDCing the M37 for 3 or 4 weeks now, so you might notice my pics show normal wear of the annodization on the edges. It will work with a 10440 battery, but it is not ‘officially’ 10440 compatible. The Odepro M37 is available from BG in either black or red.

HIGH-LIGHTS:

Solid construction.
Glass lens.
Plenty of knurling and ridges for one hand operation/grip.
HA-III matte black coating (my sample).
Reverse polarity protection (confirmed).
Last Mode Memory.
Beam pattern has a nice hot spot, helps throw quite a bit for this small of a light.
Plenty of triangular threads.
Tailstands with or without keychain connector.
5 modes (L/M/H/Strobe/SOS)
AAA and 10440 compatible.

LOW-LIGHTS:

Older emitter.
Little to no thread lube.
No AR lens.
Tint leans slightly towards purple.
Questionable modability (Unable to figure out how to remove driver/lens/reflector etc. Driver appears somewhat loose, but way down inside of head. Nothing to really grab hold of, and there is no separate bezel to access it from the business-end).

SUMMARY

Odepro continues to build lights that provide quality features at budget-conscious prices. This trend continues with the M37. The look and feel is very good for the price. HA-III anodization, lots of threads, smooth, twisty operation (once lubed), option of AAA or 10440 battery, attractive, Fenix-like design…overall a nice light for the price. It take a few hits though. The older XP-E emitter that has a slight, purplish hue, as well as its apparent lack of modability. Overall though, a properly priced light that is a good choice for gifting.

Note: I see that others have experienced flickering with their M37s. I have not experienced that with my sample.

KRONOMETER patented rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Thank you Krono. Can you described pwm if any?

Dead ringer for the LD01. Too bad the purplish tint.(10440 may alleviate some of that... >) Decent price however.

Thanks for the review.
I had the Brinyte version of this light and it would start to flicker after some time on high. Does your sample have this problem?
BTW it uses XR-E, not XP-E.

Thanks Pregulla. Corrected.

I haven’t noticed any flickering at all. I will re-check it and report back if it flickers.

Thanks much for the review. May I ask what battery you used for testing? Two other mentions of this light here have the flickering problem:

Mine doesn’t flicker with an alkaline or somewhat discharged NiMH. A fully charged Enloop gets to start flickering about 20 seconds on high mode.

I used a regular Energizer alkaline AAA and just posted a beamshot with a MarsFire 10440.

I haven’t experienced flickering with any of the batteries I used. I just received some NiMH AAAs from Amazon. I will try those the next few days and report back my findings.

Nice review Krono.

Not bad…thanks for the review

Very tiny light…what is the price of the fenix to this one?

Very nice review. If it works as well as my old Fenix LD01 did, it’s a solid keychain light. I have a question : are the heads interchangeable between the ONE pro and the Fenix? I might be interested in buying the ONE pro to put a Streamlight Microstream body on it for the forward clickie switch.
