And all that for saving a massive $4.

Sorry guys, if you don’t buy Convoy lights from Simon direct, don’t expect to get the real ones.

On the one side, you want Convoy to have success and bring out more lights, on the other hand, you don’t buy from Simon to save a few pence.

Well hindsight is 20/20, but its also very common that a bigger volume store buys a big quantity from the company and actually sells them at a lower price than the company…which seems to have actually happened here too till someone got greedy…

Sorry but it does not work like that. In commercial dealings, it is frequent to see the following:

1.) A retailer selling at a lower price than the ‘producer’ or importer or wholesaler because of the trade deal he made with the manufacturer with respect to volume of purchase and commercial agreement with the manufacturer to sell at a higher price so as not to undercut the retailer. This saves them the hassle of having to micro manage sales, warranty and the likes. NOT saying this is the case in for Gearbest.

2.) Retailers will at times sell at a lower than MRSP or even purchase price to get sales volumes, get traffic, attack customers to buy other products etc.

3.) Some people might not want to deal with Aliexpress (non paypal)

Your reference would be like if I want a real Samsung S6, I should not purchase at a retailer but directly from Samsung…

This needs to happen. There’s a crazy amount of demand for a sexy blue… And it will pair beautifully with my car. Smile

I would love to have red S2+ and blue S2+, perfect for autumn-to-early-spring EDC for those longer nights :D!

MountainKing – you can always ask Aliexpress seller to give their Paypal address and they will happily oblige, I think it was mentioned that Convoy store is happy to do so as well ;)!
BTW, are you waiting for your Ganzos :D?

I buy from Simon regularly and always use PayPal. Never an issue. Unfortunately there are no plans as of now to make a blue S2+ or any other color besides those already offered. I’ve asked Simon directly…more than once. The more people that ask the better our chances though. I suggested blue and green to him. No go so far. :_(
Edit:
I do have the red one though and it’s a beauty. Comes in a nice heavy white gift box with silver Convoy lettering and foam cutouts. That switch is sweet.

Yeps :S Really impatiently too!

To add to my post above, the retailer (gearbest) appears to have definetely sourced some batches of convoy elsewhere from Simon in this particular case. Was it a deliberate plot to reap in more profits while selling a clone? Was it a genuine mistake?

You can buy the lamp via AliExpress and PM Simon that you want to pay with Paypal – no problem at all.

What I wanted to say is: People want COnvoy to make more great lights but try to spare every pence they can get.
That’s not how it works.
Simon can’t make more and even better lights without money – and to be honest, $4 more don’t hurt anyone in BLF.

The S2+ is back on stock on GearBest, for the same price. Hopefully this gets solved…

You are still not in reality here and you missed the more important point of how pricing happens: large orders and agreements with said companies can create conditions where a certain purchaser/partner/sales agreement causes the product to be offered at a lower price from somewhere other than the manufacturer/supplier all the time, and there is nothing wrong with this. We all know there are profit margins which can be increased/reduced for larger sales.

Sales happen all the time and stimulate people to buy. Nobody sees the ad for a cheap Panasonic battery for example, and goes “hey, I like Panasonic, this sale is a good one, but really, they need more money so I’ll see if I can go buy the battery for $4 more at their site”. You can if you want, but it doesn’t happen this way, I bet even for yourself. Compounded with the fact that the SALE price probably stimulated the purchase, meaning most of us wouldn’t have purchased without the reduced pricing, I didn’t need mine, they are purchased because of the value for the price for gifts. Without the value, or the price, I wouldn’t have purchased. One light for myself? Maybe yeah I’d pay a little extra.

You can also “help” Simon by buying an extra light at the reduced price and indirectly his profit is also doubled. If he makes $8/light, but at GB he cut the cost to them and his profit by $4 to sell more, if you bought 2, he still made $8. In fact he made an extra profit he wouldnt have made on each light I bought because I was not in the market until the value per price tempted me. Both he and GB were obviously making a profit at the lower price (or else they wouldn’t have done it), until someone at GB or the supply chain got greedy and figured they could substitute copies at a cheaper price. Then Simon was hurt yes. I will support him by insisting on the real product and buying way too many lights through the years of his and from him, not ridiculously offering to pay more than a light is offered at Silly

$4 is a MASSIVE amount!…This is BUDGET Light Forum don’t ya know!
But seriously, I’m sure Simon still makes a profit when REAL Convoy flashlights that are sold by other vendors. But with Simon’s great reputation that extra 4 bucks is worth it to avoid problems with other sellers (are you listening GEARBEST?).
I know would have GLADLY paid the $4 to avoid the frustration I’m currently dealing with ( are you listening GEARBEST?).

The only reason I bought the Red S2+ was to give to the wife. Red isn’t my color, blue is. You hear that Simon? I like blue. Hint, hint.

GB is not giving refunds to Paypal. They are giving a credit to use on GB. That’s not going to work for me.

I have to say if this, is the case, you are not going to last long here Gearbest. Telling people to cancel their PayPal disputes is not the correct procedure. Then giving them store credit is not fair.

I sent Simon another email yesterday asking if he’ll reconsider and start making them in blue with the beautiful fancy button. I aint too proud to beg! 8) I’d suggest more people try to ask him for it. I think he’s too busy to browse BLF these days. Still great to deal with though as always.

I want green and matte white Sad
I would like flashlights in neon-colors (green, yellow).

A little bit of colour between the all black and sometimes grey flashlights would be very nifty.

Want one of these too.

Have already bought 3 red S2+ (for me, myself and a colleague) but you can wake me up in the middle of the night to sell me a blue one!

You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.

Because of higher production cost (rare anodisation color) cobalt blue S2+ will cost ~32$ Silly
