DHL mail from China to USA experiences

has anyone here from the USA bought something from china and then the seller shipped it DHL mail ? did you later get an invoice from DHL for an absurd amount for customs processing ?
I bought a flashlight for $5.10 shipped. I have not received it yet but just found out that it was shipped DHL mail. I have heard many stories that DHL then sends absurdly expensive invoices to “process” customs even when its obvious that there is no customs to be charged. so that a $5 or $20 purchase could have a $100 charge from DHL. and that is how DHL makes most of its money perhaps.

I would love to hear from people that have received DHL packages from China and if they get DHL bills ( and I have heard it could take 6 months to get that bill).

thanks

Never had a problem, have gotten 3-4 packages, all I has to do was sign on the line.

One hell of a lot speedier than china post (2-3 days vs 1-3 weeks).

I ordered a tablet via DHL, no bill has arrived and will not pay any bill if it arrives either…

Ordered 10 cree mini lights early December… Promise date of 12/23/14 which is why I ordered… Nothing arrived, No shipping info until recently… DHL number which shows no good with the DHL tracker…? Ordered from 360 but no response… their went the stocking stuffers… :frowning: Did I get duped??

Greetings MM,

My daughter works in Foshan, CN, about 60 miles NW of Shenzhen & Hong Kong.
I have turned to shipping DHL both ways because of extreme delays with USPS or China Post.
Never had an additional charge from DHL for items to ro from my daughter, eventhough it still takes a very long time (14-26 days) without express option, usually a week longer when shipping TO China.
More than once I had an order from China ship DHL and take a very long time to arrive. Once I recall the package being routed through Netherlands Post…took 40 days to get here.

DHL courier services are among the best in the World.

VERY expensive, but you can trust them to deliver extremely fast to almost anywhere in the world, actually even to some countries at war.

I have used them professionally several times for the delivery of really important documents, first time in the 80:ies.
