Modding an LED EmergehLy Lighitng

...at least that´s what it says in blister pack.

I´m talking about one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170519526179&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

A cheap, cheaply made, 1xAA device, which should charge your Cellphone in an emergency (or even in a bad EmergehLy!).

I´m an idiot, okay, but hey, look at it! It says it has a flashlight!!11

and it sure has :)

The thing is: those 4 generic or below generic LED´s take ~45mA to run. This is the absolute maximum it does also when charging a cellphone.

Now, I bet you all can calculate even better than me how slow charging this means, if you take 50mA FROM 1,2V batt + losses, then up to ~5,5V.

It just barely keeps my cell idling :D

I´m going to say this straight: any driver-mod ideas

It would be great if they make in with 18650 size battery. I have a few standing around. And they would give out a lot more power.

Would be nice even with AA if could make it give proper amperages...

Like this? http://www.dealextreme.com/p/white-light-led-flashlight-emergency-usb-charger-with-cell-phone-adapters-18883

That looks more promising.

Wondering, how fast will it charge?

Charge a phone or charge the included 18650? A phone should charge like any device at the standard USB current of 500mA but charging the 18650 using the included charger seems to take over six hours.

Thanks KLowD9x for the link. I might just buy one.

I was thinking of the phone. Thanks!
