Using a direct drive 5 mode (with annoyong blinkies) so will probably switch it at a later date

Nope, not with the optics there XPG2’s dome on, I was going to fit a 3rd triple in, but there’s just not enough room without starting cutting bits up, produces plenty of light with just 2 though!

I’ve not measures the amps yet, I’m at work at the moment so ill do it when I get home, I’m thinking 6A?

If you’re getting the output you wanted, may I suggest skipping more LEDs and going for bling? This build looks great already, but I think it’s a good candidate for an exposed driver. Take a look at Mattaus’s Medusa project to see the sort of thing I’m talking about. My Medusa You don’t have to use a custom PCB, you could just mount an existing driver up there. Some tidy wiring and you’d have a great conversation piece IMO.
I think we’ve all spent some amount of time (at least a little, maybe a lot) explaining our custom lights to muggles (as ToyKeeper rightly calls them). Having a visible driver with components on it has got to help out with that. If it’s a driver you assembled yourself, so much the better!
It’s a possibility! I’m going to get a solid copper heatink first then I’ll decide the next steps, but the medusa idea seems good!

Sorry for my newbness on the moding side of lights but can the xp g2s really churn 1000 lumens ? Each. What ampage are they running at? And why not use xml xpl ?

There are no pre-made triple MCPB for XM- series emitters. XP-L has a large die and a large dome, the dome does not fit under the 20mm optics properly. Trimming the optics results in less light out the front. Removing the dome results in less light out the front. Either way you still have a big die behind the optic - that results in lots of flood to go with all that heat. The dual triple XP-G2 offers a tighter beam and higher efficiency.
I doubt that the light as built is 6000 lumens. Maybe 4000 at startup in a best case scenario using that KK cell? See these posts:

Frankly now that you bring it up, this light seems like it would be extremely hard on a single KK cell, at least for the first minute or so. It might be best to use a high-drain Sony or Efest cell.
Yes as Wight says, the xml would be difficult, however sinkpad does do a triple XML on copper, but it’s large at 32mm or so , optics is the harder part.
I’ve just measured the current at the tailcap which is pulling 4A, so taking into account the leads resistance and the cell not being fully charged I reckon 4.5/5A.
Not measured at the emitter yet.
The driver being direct drive will mean the output will drop the longer you run the light, I’ve ran it for 5 minutes straight on high so far with no heat problems, but I can see a slight drop in output to my eye.
Hoping for +6A at the emitters?!

Are you using an off the shelf driver? Would you mind telling me what it is and is moonmode avaliable ?
I’m just using a cheap DD 5 mode, about £3, it does have the blinkies (strobe-SOS) which I’d rather not have.
It’s a bit hit and miss if you get a ‘good egg’ with the driver, some are DD but some say the driver is only pulling about 2A
