With exception of the first discharge the cells has good tracking. The capacity looks good.

Conclusion

Good performance and rated capacity, this looks like a good cell.

Thanks for the review.  Good to know these are decent cells.

Thanks for this review, I know you had this forever in the queue…
These cells are really good, there are even some lsd tests in the Ladda thread which sound promising for low budget nimh.

But someone mentioned the nowadays available cells look a bit different and have only 3 venting holes, so I am unsure if they perform the same.

YES!

Have been waiting on this one.
Really wondered how my amateuristic test would compare to your professional ones. Now I can check!

Nice to see these tested – thanks HKJ. I’ve been meaning to get some for my mother-in-law for a little 4xAA light I bought her at Christmas, and didn’t fancy paying for eneloops. Only snag is, even though they are ostensibly available in my local Ikea (according to their online system), I’ve never found them.

Edit>> HKJ, do you have any plans to test the Ladda battery charger?

I wish there were an Ikea close by. At least they are now available on their website, as they were not last year. Shipping is $10 for one package, up to three packages of AA and three packages of AAA. After that, it increases… so, still less expensive than most other options.

Edit- when I said shipping is $10 for one package, I meant one order, and up to three packages of each size. I didn’t play with it to see what other combinations would work for the $10 shipping.

Oh dear. Oops I even commented in that thread, but totally forgot about it. Must be an aging thing. Thanks again – I think I’ll pick up a Ladda charger & some AA’s at the weekend.

Probably I killed an Ikea Ladda battery…
With my cheap voltmeter it found no voltage at all. I have try to put again on my charger (Nitecore Intellicharger I4 V.2) but nothing to do. Dead.
Well, the problem is not that; the problem are that I’ve recharger it not more than 10 times, and looking further, you can read on it: “Reccomended charge rate: 200 mA in 15 hour” :~

Well, I understand is only a recommendation, but my I4 work at 0,375A with 4 bays or 0,750A with 2 (aka with 4 or 2 battery).
I always had problems with these batteries, always very looong time to recharge (well, not 15 hours  )
And now one is dead.

Do you think there are problems between Ladda AA Nihm and Nitecore I4?
Or is just a case?

(I often have use them in computer’s mouse, but finally I’ve put 2 Eneloop 1900mAh because Ladda discharge too fast)

Try putting the battery on a dumb charger for a few minutes before putting it back on the Nitecore. I bought some Ladda’s that had 0 voltage out of the package and several of my chargers wouldn’t charge them until I raised the voltage above 1v or so using a dumb charger.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I will try for sure! Big Smile

Done!
There’s something going wrong here…
Before it was 0,07mA and now after just 15mins is 1,348mA!! Shocked

Now I will wait 20/30 minutes and try again with Nitecore I4.

Hkj if you think this is OT, please stop me and I’ll start another specific thread, thank you.

[Before it was 0,07mA and now after just 15mins is 1,348mA!!]

What are you doing, exactly? mA or more specifically mAh is capacity. You measured the capacity? That seems unlikely.
Charging capacity is an extremely crude and inaccurate measurement for any battery, especially NiMh.

You do know that measuring voltage on NiMh is a very very poor indicator of capacity? You can take a dead NiMh, put it on a dumb charger with an output of say 150mA and in a couple minutes the unloaded voltage can be 1.2v+, which indicates exactly nothing other than it’s not completely dead now and a ‘smart’ charger will accept it.

I have NiMh batteries in LED lights that 1-2 cells will come out of a dim light without any voltage reading. Put on a dumb charger for a couple minutes, then on a smart charger and soon back in business. Once in awhile I have to jump one with a higher volt battery to ‘get it started’ when the dumb charger will not do it. I only do this with low end batteries as it’s an indicator of a battery going bad.

The Nitecore I4 only has several lights so show the state of the charging. How exactly are you getting your numbers?

Are you talking about V and not mA? We can’t understand you. I charge my laddas at 1A and had no problems with them. At 1€ each there is no reason to be worried, they’ve made several cycles, are already amortized

Mooooooo

Anyone had their Ladda’s start leaking inside the wrapper like this? They still hold their charge well though, ~90% of rated despite being from 2013.
