MT-G2 HD2010

Just a simple mod. MT-G2 in a HD2010, using a KD 5000k MT-G2, a Maxtoch 26mm mcpcb, a Qlite 3040mA driver and two Efest 18350.

I used the drill press with an end mill bit and then a dremel bit, to enlarge the led shelf, to accept the 26mm Maxtoch mcpcb. I also drilled and tapped for #4-40 screws, to hold down the star.

I didn't get fancy with the driver. It's just a stock Qlite with the zener mod and Copper discs instead of a spring, for less resistance. Then I used a nail set punch to lay the aluminum over, to hold the driver in.

Looks stock on the outside.

But that MT-G2 sure looks pretty in there. I had to open up the led hole with a drill and then a round file, to fit better around the MT-G2. I also put some tape over the end of the reflector, so it would not directly contact the led base. The wires clear the reflector, because of the 26mm mcpcb. A regular 20mm mcpcb would be more of a pain and less clearance for the reflector.

2X1835 Efest cells give exactly 3040mA from the tail cap reading. 3 modes, low/medium/high, with mode memory. It's a nice light that isn't going to overheat and it's still bright and fairly compact, with plenty of mass to keep the MT-G2 cool.

I guess I was just bored.

I am waiting not so patiently for components to finish my monster mods, but I just couldn't sit around and do nothing all day, although the wife had other stuff for me to do, which I still got done.

Nice one. Should be ~2000 lumens at that current.
How did you attach the copper disk to the spring or what’s below it?

How much?

Nice one, Old-Lumens

Btw, would you happen to know of any extender than can be used to make the HD2010
work in a 2 x 26650 configuration? I’ve been itching to do something similar to mine.

It’s actually 3 copper discs. Two small ones, about 5mm and one bigger one on top. Soldered right to the positive of the driver. I used hot air reflow to put them on.

I don’t know of anything that would work as an extension, but I’m sure someone here would know.

I will probably use it for a while for work. Now that we are doing rounds in the closed down plant, it’s necessary to have a bright light. Maybe when I do some more Maglites, I will sell this and use a Maglite.

Yezl Y3 extension fits and can be bought for $6 from Gearbest

Nice. I use one running around 2.7 amps at the led and have no desire to get more out of it. Heaps of beam shots are coming up for your other thread. I just need another hour and a half to post it up.

Thanks a bunch, fonzeka! I’m ordering one right now
