for the last 2 days firefox hasbeen bloking lots of pop-ups and redirects from BLF...

Since Saturday night I've noticed firefox has been giving me a warning about how it blocked a redirect or a pop-up (usually a redirect) on the index page. I'd never seen this before but it didnt really bother me but this morning I decided to hit the allow button on a few of the redirect warnings and all it did was reload the main forum index page.

Is this happening for anyone else or does it seem to be an issue on my end? If it's on my end what should I do to stop it?

I’ve been browsing BLF multiple times a day for the past week, no pop-ups.

I’d make sure Windows Defender (if you’re on Windows) is up-to-date and do a FULL system scan.

Also, are you running AdBlock Plus with the pop-up blocker add-on? I do, and it’s a night-and-day web experience.

What he said.

ESPECIALLY the part about AdBlock Plus. It’s amazing how much crap I don’t have to put up with while browsing the web.

People that just discovered and advertising anti-ad add-ons don’t realize they are cutting the tree branch they are sit on :expressionless:

Thats why I only block pop-ups and redirects. I don’t mind banner ads, they’re usually unintrusive and it keeps things free.

My only exception: I block everything on download sites. All those fake “download” buttons make for too uch of a minefield.

Au contraire; I resolved years ago never, ever, to buy anything that anyone shoved in my face and forced me to pay attention to.

By blocking ads, I keep open the possibility that I’ll buy something from someone who’s got an ad on the website, even though that person (corporation) was stupid enough to try to annoy me.

I figure that’s generous on my part, cutting them more slack than they deserve.

If I let the ads through, I’d be far more limited in what I’d allow myself to buy.

How stupid would I have to be, to need advertising?
What I need, and get, is search tools and conversations.

They told me that adding HTML and web search to the Internet would make searching much easier.
I fell for it.

I didn’t realize that meant tools used searching for me and access to my information.

To truly appreciate how useful the Internet can be after removing distractions:
use Netnews with a well edited Killfile.

Choose never again to see whatever annoys you in unproductive ways.

After the US Constitutional Convention, Ben Franklin was asked:

Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?”
Franklin responded,_ “A republic, if you can keep it.” _

The Internet gave you access to the world, bidirectional, as and when you made your own choice.
Notice how it’s trying to change and become the ruler of you.

Your time is your own — if you can keep it.

Damn that was BEAUTIFUL!!! Bravo ! HANK!!!

Hank - not only could not have said that better myself but could not have said it that well.

Stupendous!

Cereal_killer - perhaps one of your Add-ons has been updated but there have been no problems here.

Perhaps some malware has gotten hold of your browser. A good recommendation is to run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - FREE (not the Premium trial) and AdwCleaner - FREE. These are both excellent tools and will not affect any legitimate software you may have.

Best wishes

i keep a fat hostsfile on all my devices too.
best shitfilter there is.
