Smallest aluminum Twistie Ever.

I found these “new” lights today at a local Dollar store Chain here in Canada, (Dollarama) for $ 1.50 each.
This thing is miniscule, literally almost Nano-sized. it even makes a Fauxton look huge. for a buck fifty, they are well made. Smooth anodizing, anodized very smooth threads, O-ring, and a quick-release keychain clip. They use four LR41 cells, and a single 5mm white LED. They are available in Anodized Red, Blue, Black, and silver. They look much better and much more durable than the plastic fauxton lights.

Neat looking little light, pretty nice for $1.50.

I already modded one with a Warm white 5mm for a better CRI. Now if i can only get the wife to wear two silver ones as ear rings…

Sweet looking little light.

Oh we need more pics of the mod!!

Here you go:

it took a whole 3 minutes to do. I pushed out the LED head module with a pencil, then swapped the original blush-tint 5mm, LED with a higher CRI Warmer White 5mm LED. put it back together and as seen in the photo below its a nicer warmer tint. ( and actually became a bit brighter with the better warmer 5mm)

Below is this Nano-Light between the HUGE Thrunite Ti2 and Trustfire Mini-02:

Beamshots? LOL

It looks like a handy little light but I hate buying those dinky little cells. Perhaps you'll find a way to mod the battery too...

Nice.

After the mod its a better beam than a fauxton. :stuck_out_tongue:
These pill-sized LR41’s are really cheap here, i can get ten for dollar at a few stores i go to.

Nice little light!

some more modding: sand the bulging head down to a tube and bore the red anodising inside the front away for a rough reflector.

the head could easily be turned down in a small lathe to make it narrower. The front is sort of shaped like a reflector now, if it was polished it may work as one.

That thing actually looks awesome. Love the mod. Kinda reminds me of that micro light that looks like a bolt. I can’t remember who makes that.

If you were to turn it down, it would be a twin to the SL Nano. lol

search and you’ll find a hundred LR41s for under $4 from overseas sites.
Though my experience is some of them will be dead on arrival.

I’ve started to feel better about these little cells as recycling becomes easier.
Here’s a search tool by zip code: http://www.earth911.com/recycling-guide/how-to-recycle-single-use-batteries/

I suppose nobody has looked at these little lights and thought, “hmmm, with an extension tube ….”?

amazing what you can find in a dollar store.

Little question: for this kind of 5mm Led, is possible to dedome?

You can sand the led flat and if you come close to the little cup where the light comes out you might even get some photon recycling from internal reflection, but my guess is that mainly you just widen the emission angle without increasing the die illuminance.

I tried this on one of the cheap DX 5mm keychain lights... Carefully sanded down to just above the cup, then polished smooth. It makes the light crazy-floody, which lessens its usefulness as there is so little light to work with in the first place.

Nice looking little light too! I've been looking for a Nano-clone for some time, this looks like it might be what I need! I'll start looking at the Dollar-type stores we have around here to see if I can find one.

Does eneloop makes such coin cells too?

How big is a stack of 4- LR44’s ?
Maybe a 10180 or other cell could be integrated?
( with emitter swap)

good thinking, it looks like a 10180 should fit..

My thoughts also. I’ll look also and report my findings here.
