Another vanishing thread

I've noticed that another thread has vanished seemingly without explaination, in particular the "Panasonic 18650 2300mAh" thread. I can't be the only one who has noticed this (and I know I'm not) but I'm the first to speak up?

If you want to close a thread then close it, don't delete it. Even CPF at least gives an explaination before they pull rank. What gives, Mr. Admin?

twas most possably deleted by the original poster as the poster has the power to delete his or her post ..same as mailbox wen sender deletes on his end ...go back for second look and its all gone ...

" ReverendJim deleted it because of an unnamed member complaining about whatever. I won't get into it. All I can say is I'm going to be ordering more of these because it's too good of a deal to pass up... Furthermore, from my personal experience, Jim is at the top of my list when it comes to honesty and great service.."

I hope Jim recreates his thread. It's a damn shame when one of very few bad eggs around here causes the kind of trouble and stink that results in things like this.

ReverendJim, advertise your batteries!! :)

It is not the only thread to disappear. This has been a problem for a while now. If threads are to be closed then close them. The disappearing thread trick has to stop. Even CPF doesn’t allow that kind of thing to go on. The OP is not the only person who posts on a thread, he does not own it. Other threads have been disappearing for other reasons also.

I agree. It would be nice for a thread first to be "closed" before deleted all together. As long as it is closed then no further harm can be done and all is well again.

Until I get an apology for the innuendo and lies dispersed on this issue, I don't consider it settled. If you cared about "honesty" at all in the first place, please note that not once has the parties responsible even attempted to deny the claims about spreading disinformation. At one point in time I was quite willing to let this go if it simply ceased. That time has long passed.

Ok ,

Hi guys,

As somebody mentioned, the thread starter does have the permission to delete his thread. The only time I ever get involved with the content of a thread is when it is illegal or morally offensive. And even then, I personally contact the poster and ask him to please change or delete the content. And really the only time this issue might come up is in off-topic chatter. Of course I do directly delete obvious spam posts too. On the other hand, I don't try to protect people from arguments and so I wouldn't close a thread just because people are disagreeing. At any rate, everybody please try to be courteous and disagree respectfully. Or if it's a personal argument, feel free to use PM instead of the public facing forum.

Have fun!

once data has been contributed to a post it should not be up to the whim of the person to delete the hard work people have entered into the post

if its a little post e.g. quick, specific and done, its ok - but frankly ppl take time to update these topics and i dont think they should be tossed away.

further i am happy to even hear a bit of experience or opinion on something ,even if old it can be a great deal of history that ties things together for newer ppl

i am not familiar with this particular posting but i would recover it and copy the data over

i do agree that there are a "few bad eggs" ppl that dont respect other ppl and know how to discuss, where to do it or how to have a disagreement. that i think is what we need to fix, with some new ppl esp. some ppl come here like its any other forum and are rude etc etc , i can go to the other forum for that...

whats the solution IDK but i think protecting the essence of the site is the goal

I noticed the DD free flashlight thread got deleted as well. Doesn't seem right to delete a thread you started just because you don't like the feedback.

I didn't know you can delete a thread like that. All the other forums I know has a time window you can delete your own post/thread. After that only the mods can delete it. I figure it's the best setup. It seems the board admin opted not to put a timeout on own thread deletion.

Here's a quick poll to decide this:

Was that a deletion? I thought it was the normal action of the spam filter because everyone hammered Semur with spam markers. To me it looked like his(her?) account hit spam -47 and the thread disappeared at approximately the same time.

personally i was glad to see the faith/religeon/god blather in "preacher/strobe" disappear as i find that kind of argument about magical thinking unending and futile, more so than the diappeared "blf cigar smokers?"anyway.

edit: actually with closer look the religeous blather remains, only the cigar smokers are offensive enough to eliminate. par.
