If that’s the case, it’s very short sighted of Acebeam, and makes no business sense ( it’s a Chinese torch not a Porsche or a Rolex) they could have had fourty sales to people who were very unlikely to buy them without a group buy discount, so all they have achieved is to loose fourty odd sales, and far from cheapening the brand it would have got more of their products out in the real world and extra exposure/ advertising for their products.
I bought a X60 in the last group buy, and I know someone I showed it to bought an X60 himself at probably full retail price as the group buy had ended and if he wants something he just buys it.
So without the group buy he would probably never in a million years have seen one, let alone bought one, and it’s highly unlikely I would have ever bought one either
Not surprising at all, for it’s always been a tug-of-war BETWEEN the interest of the (all) dealer (of Acebeam) AND the buyer (who looks for a bargain).
Sometimes we win, sometimes they win, no big deal at all.
Not quite. There have good public awareness meaning a lot of people know about them and follow their work so they can just distribute their products via interested vendors like BG and it will be up to retailer to offer/or not, discount.
There also might be group buy from some of their vendors, hke, bg, gb… but super low price directly from acebeam, thanks to the blf, will never be achievable again.
I think Acebeam make a very high quality light. I have a k40m and it’s excellent. The problems come from models with an integrated charger. Tbh I would never touch a torch with an in built charger anyway. So don’t be put off by Acebeam, just do a little research as always.
