GearBest is willing to do a group buy for the DQG Hobi and extensions if interested. The Hobi uses the same 10180 battery as the DQG spy and Fairy and has two outputs: 10 Lumens and 120 Lumens. The difference is the Hobi uses an optic for a tighter beam and you can add extensions. With one extension you can add a waterproof capsule or a tiny lighter (upcoming) to the other side of the Hobi. With two you can run the light with a bigger 10440 battery. The Hobi also comes in Cool or Neutral white.
Please post your interest and whether you want just the light or with the extensions.
UPDATE 6/1/15
I finally have the GB price and will be PM’ing the people who posted interested. PM me if you’re if you didn’t get my message or you’re new and want the GB price.
Definitely interested in a Hobi. With or without extensions, it depends on the price.
This would be my first group buy, so is there any info how these group buys work? Is it a problem that I live in the Netherlands?
Seeing that a fellow dutchman has replayed as well, I don’t think that the last would be a problem :P.
Can we get a battery included? I don’t have any 10180 cells, so it would be great if we could get one along with this light. The listing you linked says the battery is NOT included, but they also don’t have it for sale separately on the site, and a 10180 IS included with the Fairy.
Well, thanks for showing that they do have a listing for it, even though it is out of stock ATM. I couldn’t even find a listing when I did a quick search for keywords “10180 battery” before.
Edit: Banggood has some Veleno Designs 10180 cells in stock for $2.99 each. The DQG cells at the Gearbest link are/were $1.82 each. However, the DQG cells are 70mAH, while the Veleno Design cells are 90mAH.
Do the extensions fit the Fairy as well as the Hobi? I would be in for this as well, and since I have the DQG Fairy, if the extensions fit that as well, an extra set of the extensions would be great. I would figure they would, as the charger fits all three, but do not know absolutely, which is why I am asking….
I picked up the Fairy recently and it is pretty sweet. Only thing I don’t like about it is lack of knurling of any sort to help with twisting to turn on/off. Looks like the Hobi might be a bit better, but still somewhat slippery.
