What does your Manafont XM-L 3-mode drop-in pull?

For some reason I decided to check the tailcap of my Solarforce L2 with a DMM, and it read that I am getting 3.8A on high, with an Xtar 2600 battery. That surprised me.

I took a close look at the pill and all it says is "Ultrafire" in very small letters.

I had used a Sharpie to write "3-mode, 4.2v max" on it, but I neglected to write WHICH drop-in this is.

I may have to get some more of these, it is pretty awesome.

Does that sound like the MF 3-mode XM-L? What does your pull at the tailcap, and does it say "Ultrafire" on the bottom of the pill?

Oh, and mine has a smooth reflector.

Thanks~

mine says UF on the bottom and has a smooth ref. Unfortunately my tailcap readings are 760mA 220and 30.

its bright as hell though , i unfortunately am not very familiar with measuring the the tailcap

i did compare it to a know xml running at 800mA measured at the led and it is at least twice as bright

3.8A at the tailcap seems excessive

so i thought my DMM was flaky , it has been acting weird a bit.

i measured a dropin running at 1000mA advertised at DX it read 700mA on high with a Q5

also maybe due to my battery DX 18650 LiFePO4 Battery , i am not familiar with batteries that much , so possibly has some effect ... hope that helps a bit

Was the xtar fully charged?

Getting 2.5 A with mine. Will try with a fully charged xtar later

2.8a with samsung's

Troop that sounds like the manafont/ultrafire 3 mode drop in smooth reflector says ultrafire in small letters with either a blue or black circle modes go high, medium, low and has serious PWN if pointed at a fan on medium or low mode also has a spring soldered on the bottom. I have 6 of these they pull between 3-4amps with the same battery for no apparent reason, and most have a greenish tint to them. I would be willing to sell a couple if you want I have 2 that are brand new never used. PM me if you want them.

get this

5 mode though!

Manafont 3 mode , mine has pulled up to 3.9A , but yeah - too much current ...

That is the new DX drop in yellow ring on bottom 5 mode mad amperage and plenty o PWN

The one MF UF 3 mode I have seems entirely dependant on what cell I use to power it. This is due to the driver being direct drive in high mode. I have roughly 50 18650's, which are recovered laptop cells of varying health. I actually use this drop-in as a quick and simple way to tell me how much internal resistance each cell has depending on how much current it draws. Of the 50 cells tested, they range from 2.4a all the way up to 5a... All testing is done at 4.2 volts and is very repeatable.

With that in mind, be prudent on which cells you feed these drop-ins with (I only use the 3.2a and lower cells for daily use). IMR's wouldn't be good for emitter longevity.

I noticed different readings with mine as well. My lap top pack stopped charging so I did a salvage. Red sanyo's. Only getting around 2.a with them.

Sounds like it must be the MF 3-mode. Having no blinky modes is one of the things I like about this drop-in. I've run it quite a bit in my S/F L2, and the high amps don't seem to bother anything. I have it wrapped pretty securely in copper foil. For a SMO reflector, this combination sure throws out a nice wall of light. This is the beamshot I took with this light.

About the same here, with TF black.

BTW, we have a poll here.

Mine must be all about the battery then, because I participated in that poll and could only get about 2A out of the same dropin.

Is there a 3-mode XM-L dropin with good PWM?

2.4 amps using tf flames.

Just got my Ultrafire WF-504B host along with an Ultrafire T6 3 mode drop in from Manafont. I measure 2.5 amps with a fully charged Ultrafire Flame. Very impressive light for the money.
