I have two HD2010’s that I added an extension tube and modded with a direct driven MT-G2. I plan on selling these here, but I have a problem with the lights. The extension tube anodizing doesn’t match the rest of the flashlight. I plan on Cerakoting some stuff next week and figured I might as well Cerakote the lights so the finish matches. Plus it will be a durable finish. Just curious what color you all thought I should coat them. I know, two lights and only one selection. Just pick whatever you would like if you were to buy one of the lights. I’ll do one of each in the top two colors.

Examples of colors below:

Graphite Black

Stainless steel

OD Green

Magpul FDE

Burnt Bronze

Prison Pink

Safety Orange

I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for the safety orange cerakote I’ve seen on lights. I’d love to have a couple of my lights done in cerakote one day.

The orange looks amazing

We have had a lot of folks wanting the Burnt Bronze with some Graphite Black added here and there. It looks like the light is all dressed up for an evening on the town. We did a Corvette Yellow for a customer with a ...Yep... road sign yellow Corvette. Yell

Interesting Poll. THANKS for doing it! TL

This sparked my interest and I found a guy locally who quoted me $50 per light to cerakote. After some searching, it looks like there is some debate on its durability. As much as I’d love to spruce up some of my lights in new color, for $50 a light I may just be daydreaming :frowning:

I can do it cheaper than $50 but with shipping and everything I don’t know how much cheaper. As far as firearms, cerakote is one of the most durable finishes out there. I hate anodizing. It looks good until it’s actually used then it’s all scratched up, even class III anodizing sometimes. ALL of my firearms are cerakoted, by me.

Do you media-blast the ano off the lights first, or cerakote over the ano?

I’d be interested to know what it would cost with shipping if I just threw a few lights in a box and sent them your way. hmmm. In the mean time, I can’t wait to see how the HD2010’s turn out!

It just depends. If it is class III ano I usually don’t blast it off. The other comes off so easy that most of it comes off anyway. Class III is the only ano worth a crap, the other is soooooo thin. I’ve some rifle parts that a single short blast took the anodizing off.

These will be my first cerakoted lights. I’ll post up pics next week when I do them. Right now I’m leaning toward safety orange with black accents and I don’t know about the other. Burnt Bronze with black accents is really sexy.

Here are a couple of my rifles. The rifle on top is OD Green with Graphite Black and the rifle on the bottom is burnt bronze with graphite black.

n10sivern start a GB on this ill send u lots of lights ;)

Some of my other firearms

Stainless and graphite black

WOW, all the tints (except pink…can’t think about it seriously in this contest) are exceptional!!!
Never knew about this stuff.

Don’t know what to vote. Considering it’s a flashlight, would be useful to be well visible as object and for the sake of making a well defined poll, my vote goes for orange.

It’s a bake on ceramic firearm finish. It’s a pain to apply. Takes a while. But is pretty durable for regular use. If you drop it on cement it will chip or scratch, but less than cheaper anodizing. No finish is bullet proof. I love colored anodizing, it can be incredible. It just won’t last in the woods! If you get mud on that pretty colored anodizing and wipe it off with your hand or pants, it will scratch. Not so with cerakote.

I’d love to get one of my solarforce lights coated in Orange. If only it was easy to get done in the UK

@n10sivern Thanks mate!
You guys here are top notch!
Lot’s of stuff to learn about things of life.

Thanks for your input. There are too many colors I am liking. I’d love a Burnt bronze/black combo on a light. I’d love a safety orange light. And I saw a zombie green on their website I’d like too (Nice for visibility purposes and something unique).

+1

I’m sure many will do the same.

I’m surprised at the love for the safety orange. Also, the three votes for prison pink surprises me, as I threw the pink on there kind of as a joke.

As far as others wanting me to do their lights, let’s see how the HD2010’s turn out first. These flashlights are going to be a little trickier than firearms. I have to avoid coating the threads and the ends of the battery tube, inside the tail cap, etc as cerakote isn’t electrically conductive. I will probably not coat the inside of the battery tube also, as I will be blocking/taping off the ends anyway. It’s just easier with a firearm as the only things that don’t get coated are trigger surface areas, night sights, the chamber and inside of the barrel. Basically parts that are easily plugged or removed.

How good is Cerakote at dissipating heat from the light?

I also like the orange with black accents!

I also really like the look of the orange with the black accents but that’s for the gun. On a light I’m imagining the whole piece will be orange, I don’t like that at all. No love for white? I have a white cooly with some black rubber that I added to protect the edges when it rolls (kinda storm trooper style).
