WTS: Cerakote services

There has been quite a few interested and I have been hesitant to do this, but here it is. The Flashlight Cerakote for sale thread. I know there is a lot to read here, but I tried to be as specific as possible so please read the entire first post before asking questions.

I used the same pricing that I mentioned before in this thread. There are also pictures there of some lights that I have done.

PRICING
There will be two pricing options. One-off is you don’t want to wait and want your light finished as soon as possible. Bulk-rate is if you wait until I have 10 people wanting the same color.

One-off pricing is as follows:
S rate (typically Small sized lights)- $20
M rate (typically Medium sized lights)- $25
L rate (typically Large sized lights)- $30

I need to see a picture or know a model number in order to tell you what category I feel it fits in. Size doesn’t necessarily dictate the rate. Complexity plays into it as well. If the light has very deep fins that are close together, I may refuse to coat it. It is hard to get adequate coverage in those narrow deep spaces, and I don’t want to return a light to you that looks like crap.

B rate (Bulk-rate) pricing is $5 less than the One-off pricing.

2 rate pricing- There will be an addition $5 fee for two tone lights. That fee will also apply to aspheric zooming lights as the inside of the head should ideally be black, unless it’s an all black light/head or you just choose to have the inside of the head the same color. I will cut this fee in half on Bulk-rate items where there are several that want the same thing.

SHIPPING
You are responsible for shipping to me and back to you. US customers, if it is a small light, I can probably ship in a small padded envelope for around $2.50 to $4.00. Anything else will ship in a padded flat rate Priority envelope which is $6. If there are multiple large lights to be shipped, we will figure something out. Insurance is suggested and is extra.

COLORS
Colors I currently have are: Graphite Black (GBk), Magpul FDE (FDe), OD Green (ODg), Burnt Bronze (BBz), Stainless (STs), Blue Titanium (BTn), Safety Orange (SOg), Prison Pink (PPk)

There are many other colors available. Just go to Cerakote and look at what is available and some of the projects done in that color. I will add new colors if I get 10 people that request it. That way, you get Bulk-rate and a new color.

OTHER INFO
If you send me a complete light, it will be reassembled and tested prior to shipping back. I will coat all electrically conductive threads with No Ox ID and all non-conductive threads with Silicone. Lights have to be able to be completely broken down. Please don’t send me a light with a glued on head or bezel.

I generally do not blast or coat the inside of the battery tube as it is difficulty to ensure good coverage spraying down a narrow tube.

Due to how some lights are manufactured, you need to be aware that there may be some irregularities where two colors meet or where color meets unfinished threads. It is impossible to tape off everything perfectly or plug it perfectly. All of these irregularities will be on the inside of the flashlight and not visible from the outside.

ORDERING CODES
This will just help me keep track of exactly what you want. Please send a piece of paper with the light to me that includes the ordering code (example below), what parts you want what color, email address, and your return address with a phone number in case I have a problem.

how close does graphite back match with the matte color of the standard AR15?

Since you’re air-brushing these, is it a possibility to get something like a camo pattern using two or three colors?

I can make the graphite black completely matte. It matches up sometimes, it just depends. I have put together AR’s and dang near every piece was a different shade of anodizing. It is hard to 100% say it will match your part, but I can say 100% that I can make it flat black.

It just depends, some I airbrush, some I use the spray gun. I can do camo patterns but it is a huge pain in the butt. I’m not that good at detail airbrushing. I only use the airbrush as a mini spray gun. I have used stencils in the past for Camo patterns, but it is a long, tedious, PITA process. The first color has to be baked to partially cure, then cooled, then stencil applied, then spray with new color, then bake, then repeat for each color.

I was thinking soft edges, not stencil-perfect patterns. As long as you can maintain a certain amount of control, you could probably do okay, right? How big of a deal is it if you have a bit of overspray from one color to the other?

Like this?

Well, not exactly like that, but that type of airbrushing anyway.

Yeah. That I can do. I just can’t do the airbrush pretty pictures like they do in the mall on T-Shirts!

Well, what would you charge for something like that with three colors? I’d want each color to have approximate visually equal amount of coverage, not one base color and two secondary colors like the tank picture.

Edit: I’m thinking Prison Pink, Graphite Black, Stainless.

For a friend.

Kinda like this with those 3 colors and faded edges. I’d still have to partially cure between colors otherwise they will blend into yuck.

Or this

How big of a light? Big stokes of color? Little strokes? Do you have a back up plan in case it ends up looking like crap?

And don’t lie, there is no friend  If I do this we gotta have a picture of you sporting the girly light!

Sorta like that would be great. And yes, there actually is a friend. The daughter of a friend, actually. Her favorite color is pink and the camo would make the light extra cool. Don’t know what you consider small or large strokes. The size of the light would be either a small or medium. Most likely a small. So, the strokes need to be small enough to fit several on the body of the light, but not so thin that they look like zebra stripes or something. If the light ends up looking bad, I’ll just keep it in the basement and use it for testing LED’s or something.

My daughter would like that Electric Blue you were talking about in your other thread as a possible new color. I’m thinking of getting her Courui D01 coated. For me, I’d go with just a two-tone in subdued colors like Titanium Blue and Stainless. Maybe one of those colors for the tube with Black for the head and tail.

If it would bring the price down, I’d be glad to upload a picture of me doing a gurly pose, holding the Pink Camo Flashlight!

Edit: Definitely more like the iPhone case. I dunno, maybe in-between.

Nah you wouldn’t have to hide it. I’d spray it like you asked, if you didn’t like it or I thought it looked like crap, I’d just blast it down and spray it some other way.

What about Eagle Eye/BLF X6? Is that one problematic because of the cooling fins? Is that a small or medium?

No problem with the x6. It’s a small

I appreciate your willingness to do that, but I wouldn’t expect you to re-do anything for free as long as it was done the way I asked. I believe the customer should get what they ask for, even if they don’t like it afterward. It shouldn’t be on you to make me happy. Your part is just to do the agreed upon process. After all, you have to pay for the Cerakote, all the associated stuff, and your time.

Now, if you really want to do something, I can think of two options that might work. You could do a sample light of your own, and put some pictures up here, so customers would know before-hand what they are getting. Or, you could give the first camo-buying customer a discounted price on the condition that there are no guarantees. Then, that light could be used for your sample picture.

OK. I guess I have to request a new color. I’d love to have a X6 in white. So my request would be “bright white” or “snow white”.

Pmed about an order.

Chouster, your request has been listed

Vinte77, I responded to your PM’s

to everybody else
I added requests for Snow White and Ridgeway Blue.

This pic shamelessly stolen from the ‘other’ forum…

That looks darker than I thought. Hmm, I like it but maybe need a brighter blue.
