[25-JUN-2015] Any volunteers to help take a few flashlight pics for the frontpage?

Hi guys,

I’m embarrassed to admit that it’s been over two years since I created this thread about updating the three flashlight pics on the frontpage welcome:

I think I had some major problems with the site back then and/or a million little things that never let me get around to getting this done. But I’d still like to update them. Back then, we settled on using a Skyray King, a Solarforce L2P, and a Sipik SK68 as good representative lights of different categories and price ranges that are extremely popular among BLFers. I think these are still pretty good choices. I own most of these, but the problem is that I don’t own a good decent camera and I’m a terrible close-up photographer. Could I get any volunteer(s) to donate a straight side shot of any or all of those three lights on a white backdrop? You will be handsomely rewarded by seeing your photography on the front page every time you visit. :slight_smile:

I don’t own any of those. Nor do I own a decent camera. Nor am I a decent photographer. :frowning:

Actually come to think of it, it doesn’t even need to be a fantastic camera, because they’re just small low-res images anyway.

Let’s just decide on who is going to do which pictures so we don’t duplicate efforts.

I can't join a contest for all three, because I do not have a King, or a L2P (I hve a L2M though). But here's my take on the sk68-clone. It is not in mint condition, but in defense of this light: it does 39kcd on a dedomed XP-E2 at 2.1A :-)

Here's my L2M, not mint either, and actually quite boring, I think it is nicer as 18350 shorty, with extension removed. Is the L2P a bit more appealing?

If someone has a few BLF GB models, a nice photo of them may make for a nice overall image.

Hmm, I was thinking that all the L2Ms had a chrome bezel, which would look a bit more appealing.

If nobody has the L2P, I seem to recall that a C8 was the next-most-popular vote (and would have been third overall if the two C8 categories were combined). I have a XinTD C8 if you’d like me to make an image for it like I did for the SRK.

Without trying to cause a long debate we have had a couple of budget BLF lights lately like the X6 and Reys Titanium light that would look good on the home page.

Oh, the BLF X6 is a good idea. I didn’t think about that one… was mostly just trying to stick to the old survey results. :slight_smile:

I was also kind of thinking about showcasing some of the BLF custom lights, but I sort of wanted to stick with the original poll. I currently have the angled/straight/angled layout thing going on, which only lends itself to three models. I supposed I could do angle/straight/straight/straight/angle too, or an arbitrary number of straight up lights.
