TF x8, TF x9 and Sky Ray STL-V2

anyone have the comparison of those 3 flashlight?

all of them are using single xmlT6 and produce around same lumens. but i was wondering which one is have more throw and brighter in distance?

STL-V2. Get the Fandyfire from STL-V6 and save yourself 8 bucks, furthermore it is free registered shipping at DX. Took 6 days to get sent out though....

Its 50,000 lux exactly, 35.7 lux @ 50 metres.

there are surveys out there saying that the quality of fandyfire not as good as others *****fire

i am actually quiet impress with the x8 and x9 as both of them use 1x18650 (x8 has extension for 2x18650).

it's kinda difficult to decide which to buy...

No worries, I can safely tell you that is not true for the Fandyfire STL-V6, for this flashlight only. Stripped it out, and same quality as my various SR lights. As for other
"Fires" I have abour 30-40 in total. Not sure about other models of Fandyfire though. Seriously they all come out from the same OEM factory, same box, same lanyard, same smell of the box, same machine oil smell. If you can read chinese characters, sometimes for other lights even the handwriting on the box is the same.

Not sure, but did they even go to the extent of testing at a 50 metres range? The reflected lux figures and show this OTF is up there (eg about 15% brighter than a 2.6A driven Ultrafire U80). For me i am basing my comments with measurements so that you as a user can draw your own conclusions. Smile

BTW, there is another SZBOM ZY-T80 which is also the same OEM as FF STL-V6 and SR STL-V2. All these also have the same stuff for their triple XM-Ls

the fandy is very similar to the trustfire 3*xml??? from what i have read on some reviews, most of them saying that SR STL V-2 is better than fandy.

btw, i came across this UF-980L, is it brigther than x8 and x9???

Heres the reviews i did for the X8 and STL-V2. between the 2 the stlv2 is brighter. ive had a much better experience with manafont compared to DX but heres the dealer reviews section. Good Luck!

The UF-980L is a funny animal. When I strip out the light, the pill looks ok and all, pretty solid stuff. During operation the host gets hot which is good as this shows it is conducting heat. (I mean how much host-air heatsinking do you want from a 1 x 18650 40mm light, any fins in the body are are really somewhat decorative, seriously). Speaking in pure light output from the front ie OTF, the UF-980L reads 79 lux on the meter from a ceiling bounce but crashes to 60-65 region within 1 minute. The Fandyfire STL-V6 holds steady at 75 lux for 2 mins and then slowly dips about 0.1 lux per 2-3 seconds. The heatsinking is that good, i mean of course it is nothing fanastic in the realm of extreme custom flashlights, but for a on-spec driven XM-L + budgetlight league, it is more than good enough even in a tropical country like mine.

My copy of UF-980L only takes about 3.5-3.6A with a tail measurement. For my other Direct drive lights like the DRY triple XM-L, i could get close to 5 amps with my Panasonic cells so seriously i am capable of measuring high currents (anyway I sometimes hit over 10 amps for my HIDs). Trying to get a new meter though.... heh... And yeah relax, i don't use those cells in the lights, plus i always charge to about 4V so i never go beyond 4A and as it discharges it slowly slips.

X9 - some guys were saying they got low amps of about 1.9. X8 - well you can check out James' beamshots.

I think most are really bothered by the name "Fandy" rather than the technicalities. If you look at the detailed pictures in James review, all the internals in the Fandyfire are the same, PCB colour, wire and the way they twist it, driver components, the black disc at the emitter which centers the reflector. If it really bothers you then get the Sky Ray at 54 bucks + $2 for registered air mail.

Then they don't know what they're talking about and you should avoid them as sources in the future.

based on reviews, this is what i can conclude.X8 is brighter than KD-C8, X9 is brighter than X8. STL-V2 is brighter than X9. CMIIW

I don't know if Brighter is the term.

He probably meant hotspot intensity.

yeah.. that's the term.." hot spot intensity"
