FmC's "Oh, how did I let the 1000th post giveaway slip by" giveaway.****Winner Announced*****

In the true BLF spirit, the 1000th post is a time when a member gives back to the community, & comes up with an idea for a "Giveaway".

This Giveaway is more suited to someone who is just getting into the hobby, and/or does not have the tools/ability to mod a light.

Lately, member's have been coming up with interesting ways to participate, so here is my own take on it.

Rather than just ordering a stock light from a seller & having it shipped to the winner, instead, I'm offering to mod a light for the winner; ie - the winner orders/sends to me a light (& any major components), & I'll mod it, & do a build thread for it, & then post it to them.

So, if you want in, you must post what light you want modded, & how you want it modded.

--------------

Example; I'd like to have a Convoy S2, modded with triple Nichias, DD driver, four modes.

In this example, you would have to order the light/host, triple Noctigon board, & LED's.

--------------

Example; I want a fully modded Courui thrower, with de-domed XPL.

In this example, you would order the Courui, 32mm Noctigon, & XPL.

--------------

Rules;

* One post/entry per person.

* Any one who doesn't read the OP & just posts something along the lines of "I'm in" will not be eligible.

* Must be a current BLF member as of yesterday, & not associated with a commercial seller(ie; work/employed by/for them).

* Contest will be open for the next week from the time of posting, & the winner will be picked randomly shortly thereafter.

* I reserve the right to add/change the rules if deemed necessary, & have final say in what is "do-able".

* Due to the ridiculous price of international shipping from AU, please try & keep your choice of light, errr - light. :)

If you are not sure what's required, or whether your idea is "do-able", feel free to ask about it in your entry post.

======================

Ok, the giveaway is now closed.

A winner will be drawn, & the result posted tomorrow (my time).

After filtering out the chatter, each valid entrant was assigned a number in the order they posted, then put into Random.Org.

The winner is; MauiSon!

Congrats, MauiSon, I will PM you shortly.

But thats the fun part you are doing :frowning:

I want a WWII Searchlight :wink:

Edit: I want this light (or one like it) modded with a XHP-35 and the 4xAAA carrier bypass modded for max amps to use 4x10440 cells! (XHP-35 requires ~12V)

Done! Just send me the parts, including that nice Edmund's Optical reflector.... ;)

I’ll bite if you’re up to the challenge…

I send you my BLF EE A6 CW whenever I can order it. (Number 56 & 57 on the list)
Dedome stock XP-L, spring and switch PCB bypasses. Flash a custom version of TK’s BLF A6 firmware with the 4 mode group changed to: 3 modes (moon, 7135 only max, FET only max), bike flasher and stobe removed.

Now the challenging part… Add that crazy side switch mod like you did on your S2+ and use a momentary firmware instead with the same 3 modes, LVP and battery check.

EDIT (Thread rules: One post per person/entry)

Wow. I didn’t expect you to take the challenge. That would be nuts!
I’m sure STAR momentary would be plenty fine or maybe TK would have a momentary version soon?
Please forgive my manners… Congrats on 1000 posts!!!

Congratulations on 1000 posts :-)

The mod I would like you to do if I win, is viperbart's mod :evil: that will keep you busy for a while (do his mod for him btw, not for me).

Do-able!

I just took a look at TK's firmware, & it should be easy enough to do.

The A6 doesn't have a brass pill, which I used to solder the micro-switch to in my S2+ mod, but I think I could come up with another solution to pull it off.

However, I'm not that much of a firmware guru, so it would have to be an 'off the shelf' firmware, with basic things like mode levels changed.

Thanks, Djozz!

Thanks, Djozz....

Instead of a mod, could it be seeing if you could repair my Lightwave 4000?

It looks OK, but won’t come on.

From what I gather, the circuitry in that is fully potted, so unless the problem is switch or contact related, there's not much chance of resurrecting it in it's stock form.

It could probably be modded though.....

Could it be modded into being even a loooooonger running light than it was, rather than bright?

Probably not with the type of power LED's & drivers that we are typically dealing with here.

Just underneath the positive contact, there is a lot of green, like a battery leaked, or something.

Not in but nice giveaway! :beer: Thanks for doing it.

~ edit ~
Would you happen to have a lathe or mill?

It is a mystery light. It was delivered to my hands a while ago by a person known by many, but who will remain unnamed. The light has no anodizing - it is bare aluminum. Much like the naked EE A6 pictured recently in the A6 GB thread. Several BLFers thought the bare Al version of the GB A6 was attractive.

Someone said this light looks like a EE X6 with the anodizing stripped off. But that’s not the case at all. In fact the light predates the X6 and has never been anodized. And interestingly, it was made in the US.

This light needs only a few items to become a full-fledged illuminator. A 32mm lens. A LED MCPCB, perhaps a quad to take advantage of the nice heat-sink. And a driver, perhaps the LD-2. I will source these items, of course.

Thanks for the giveaway!

PS: I hope Bugsy offers the A6 in raw Aluminum, as an option. Al is really quite nice, especially when polished.

Thanks for the giveaway, FmC!

I'd like to have a red Convoy S2+, modded with triple Nichias, DD driver, four modes. :)

Sorry - no lathe here - just a drill press with a cross-vice & a couple of milling bits :)

Brad, I can certainly have a go at fixing it for you if you are the winner :)

@ MG;

No problem with the nakedness, but I can't guarantee return delivery via Unicorn :)

Hmm, how about a new version M2 host modded with triple X-PL H1s at about 5.6 amps with 10507 optics.
