Knife Review: New Ganzo G724 Axis Lock Folding Pocket Knife with coupon code ($10.59)

Hi, BLF. This is my third knife review- but the 1st time I’ve reviewed a dedicated Ganzo Pocket Knife. This is a pretty new model and here is one of the first full reviews for it. The basics: It uses the usual budget 440C stee, has a FRN handle, a full liner, and an axis lock. It’s a little shorter than my Endura 4 and has a deep pocket clip- which you can easily see in the review. In fact had I purchased a budget folder before my Endura 4, I might be a bit disappointed. But it really comes down to blade steel really, 44C vs VG-10.

So I carried it, played with it, tested it, and shot a bunch of footage with my camera- like usual. It’s super sharp right out of the box, and it the edge held up well during my testing. It’s a slightly larger folder, with a 3.2 inch blade, so keep that in mind. Long term testing will see how well the edge holds up to abuse and daily cutting activities. The review is about 5 minutes and shot with my Black Magic Pocket Cinema camera, in crystal clear 1080p. Make sure you choose the option on YouTube.

Gearbest provided me 3 Ganzo folders for review. I have the 722 and 7212 coming up, and have coupon codes for all of them. This one works out to be 10.59 with the code with is “GBG724M”. I don’t know if you have to use the link they gave me, but here it is. It’s not affiliate.

If you’d like codes for the other two knives just PM me- otherwise they’ll be released with my reviews in a week or two. I think the 722 is about 16.99 after coupon and the 7212 is 13.99.

Thanks everyone- hit me up with any questions.

That’s exactly why. See the bandaid? I was cleaning fingerprints off the blade while shooting yesterday and my finger slipped on the blade. So the apple was after I had already cut myself. Believe me, it’s razor sharp. It still is after all the cutting. I demolished the pizza box, but cut a lot of it out- so to speak.

I have one of these 724M’s, wonderful size on the entire knife. Not too big, not too small. I have a G720 as well, and that knife is big, almost too big sometimes. This size is just right for me. The 720 will stay as my outdoors knife while the 724M will be my new EDC. At this price, I ordered two more for gifts.

As always, great review, your camera work is excellent….

I love it. The only problem is I don’t know which ganzo is my favorite now. This will definitely be my alternative EDC to my spyderco. Thanks man, glad you liked it.

I like that they have bronze washers installed, amazing for the money. If you like a long thin blade, try a Harnds Viper it is like a folding steak knife. I also like the brown scales, even though I am usually a fan of black for knives…

Great review!

I have a few colors of knives, and honestly I don’t mind the orange, green, gray, or whatever. I don’t think I could do pink or yellow- well maybe yellow. Looks like a nice knife- I may have to pick it up. One of the ganzos has a 4-pin security bit on the clip. I guess a two pin spanner would work- but I hasn’t seen one like that before. I need to be able to disassemble them- so I just bought a torx set off eBay.

Veri nice review and killer deal!

^ +1

Couldn't resist ordering one for that price.

Great review. I love a bit of dry humour in instructional and review videos. A lot of the big name reviewers of blades, torches and outdoor kit seem either constipated by life or some what psychologically damaged so yours are somewhat refreshing in comparison.

I bit and purchased an orange handled one. £7.00 via paypal in the end.

Great review. I really don’t need it… But orange, hmmmm

Very well said, I have to agree with your terminology on other testers… Mhanlen, keep up the great reviews!

Love the review and love Axis lock knives!

Have you tried one-hand opening with the Axis lock? Will it pop out easily?

That is only to carry right? So order one and take a hand file to it until it is just under 3”… This wide blade has plenty of stock on it for something like this, it wont even look bad proportionately when you are done.

I have had to do this before, and all I do is mark the correct length I want in a fine tip sharpie and start filing the blade. A couple of days doing this part time and you will have a fine little knife for carry.

Just an idea…

I did this with one of the Ganzo switchblades. CA law states switchblades have to be less than 2” to be legal so I took it down to 1.9” with a hacksaw and file. I have to say it worked out really well, it’s been my main carry for about a month. It’s kinda fun having a customized knife, I’d recommend it if you have the time and materials.

It’s a lot of knife for $10

I try to make them somewhat short and entertaining. That and I script it out so there’s not a lot of umms.

I have the 722 in orange and it looks mighty nice.

That sucks man. I prefer blades a little over 3 for general purpose.

So to do this, you hold the lock with a finger and flick your wrist? If this is the way, I was only able to do it once. The thumb studs are the only way I was able to open it one handed. It is a one handed opener if you use the thumb studs. I can close it with one hand with a bit of practice by clicking the switch and flinging it closed.

Yes. I hold the lock back with thumb and pointer-finger on the opposing side, then flick the wrist. You can use a reverse movement to close. Takes some practice.

It ain’t easy to do on this one. I’ve been trying it some more but the lock is a bit stiff. Most of the time it ends up 3/4 the way deployed just hanging there. I’ll practice some more tomorrow. I spent the evening chopping at a sapling with the 722.

A good lube goes a long way to break in. My favorite knife lubes are the bio based ones:

Tracklube+

Seal1 CLP

FrogLube

All basically the same, with different additive packages, but the same lubricant properties, and non-toxic…

For the price, they are expensive compared to mineral oils or other lubes, but they smell good (spouse doesn’t mind you cleaning in the house…) and you can pet the dog with your “dirty” hands after cleaning and no fear of making them sick. They work in my experience and are worth it. I know if you ask nicely, Tracklube+ may send you some samples, and the others can be found at various gun shops in sample sizes for a buck or less. The corrosion prevention alone makes them worth it…

Also work as flashlight thread and O-ring lube…

Hey, how’d you know my wife complains about that stuff? I’ve used 3-in-1 before, and it was ok, but I’d like something that doesn’t smell. One time I used PB Blaster in the house. Oh boy…
