Programmable AA boost circuit?

Hi guys. I’m trying to upload the pix (not going well on my IPhone). But I have a question.

My holy grail is to find a programmable boost circuit for use in many AA lights using some awesome firmware from someone here.

I found an old AA circuit from shining beam (sadly defuct). I intend to put it in a zoomie to test.

It’s 15mm and uses an Atmel 1014. Tiny 13A (ssu?).

Is this likely to be programmable? If so, I’ll send it to Richard or someone to reproduce it because I think they are very rare.

No one is interested? I thought this would be a holy grail.

I think people are probably waiting for the pictures

Oh sorry. Will post tonight.

Very interested in this… One of my grails is for something like this, even a double layer 10mm board for AAA would be good too… Looking forward to the pics…

I recall when Shiningbeam stocked those. Unfortunately I noticed it after they’d quit stocking them.

Pix!

If this is indeed programmable using the usual firmware, I would gladly send it to someone to reverse engineer it so the community can have access!

Unsure what happened with this

Sales thread never started…

...or with this: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/32851 ...

I too hope that a 15mm boost driver with nice UI comes off the ground some day.

Hi, see the original thread for more information.

Do I need to send this to someone to try programming it?

Ugh. The levels are medium, medium - high, and medium - higher. I need to get this reprogrammed!

That looks cool. I just haven't been able to get around to doing anything yet, but it's still on my radar. I have a few ICs lined up in my spreadsheet to try out.

Would it make sense for me to send it you for program testing etc or someone else? The stock modes are terrible. 1 second on - time memory. Barely any difference in the three modes. Meh.

If you'd like I would certainly take a look at it. The mode spacing may be a limitation of the IC--some of them don't have that great of a dimming ratio; on the other hand, many of the other lights that I've seen could dim much lower than they were programmed for.

Sure. I want to mass produce it so others can get a good programmable boost circuit.

That looks nice, but I know very little about hardware.

I’d love for there to be an AA boost driver with a common programmable MCU. AA is my favorite form factor for lights, especially in the size/shape of the L3 L10 or CNQG brass AA. These both take a 14mm single-sided driver, if I recall correctly, which doesn’t make it easy to fit components.

That’s encouraging.

I continue to give away my older 18650 lights, downrated to a 1.5v driver, with 4/3AF NiMH cells, to people who shouldn’t mess with lithium-ions (with youngsters, mainly).
