Noob putting together his first solarforce L2

Smiley

Ok I since I'm going to use this for my MPP1 http://lightake.com/detail.do/sku.L2_Flashlight_Body_Tube_with_Extension_Tube_Silver-30640

And since it also comes with a head for a drop in bombing_aircraft.gifI was going to use this http://www.itc-shop.net/product_detail.php?t=RB&s=30&id=109

please advise....

Hi there vawayne,

Do you have a specific reason for choosing an SST emitter? I think Cree XM-L dropins will probably be brighter for less money.

The Ultrafire 504B is also a very well regarded P60 host.

something different like a op reflector I bought the L2 body for my MPP1 and since it also comes

ready for a drop in. I already have a few XMLs with smooth reflectors I was looking for floodflood.gif

Ah ya. In that case, I would be interested in your opinion on SST compared with XM-L.

Be aware that a lot of the Lighttake "Solarforce" lights are not genuine, including the one you linked to. The real Solarforce lights don't have lanyards. Actually I'm glad to see Lighttake no longer advertises these as Solarforce, just L2, even though the pictures still show the Solarforce lettering. These fake L2's are pretty much the same as the Ultrafire 504B. Not bad lights (especially if you want a lanyard), but not true Solarforce.

Also, the drop-in is a P7 LED intended for 6V maximum, so two 18650's like the extended L2 you have picked out will take, will be too much. Also a lot of time the P7 has a + in the beam or a dark center due to the layout of the 4 individual LED's. I'm not sure why ITC is talking about SST's, but you wouldn't find a SST drop-in that cheap.

I bought a black version of the extended L2 from Lighttake and I have yet to get a drop-in that takes 2 cells (most take one cell). So I've never used it (except with the extension off).

a sst 90 x6 if that compares

I got L2 really for my MPP1 and since it comes also with a head for a drop in I thought I would put something in.

Clone L2 = But I have one , and like it ...

Drop in is 3volt to 6volt , how will it handle 8.4volt ???????????

ok will do dance-smiley03.gif
