HI guys i wonder if any one can help? i'm trying to wire my DRLS (daytime running lights) so that they come on when i unlock the car and then also come on with the ignition. I've been told this can be done with a relay but not sure how to wire it up.
so to break it down
unlock car drls on (connected to interior light)
then when ignition is on disconnect from interior light circuit and connect to main switched feed from car.

What type of car?
Some late-models allow for programming of DRL operation through the ECU. PM me the info, and I’ll see what’s available.
It's a mk1 Audi TT they never had drls when they came out in 1998
There may still be hope. The Bosch ECU used in your car is very sophisticated.
Can you PM the numbers on your ECU? I need the Hardware number and any other numbers printed on the sticker. (HW, SW)
Let me know if you need assistance in ECU location. It should be up against the firewall on your car.
Thats easier said than done it's so hard to get to i actually have to remove the wipers to get to it :)
I have the drls powered ok connected to the switched live from the bus bar inside the car. but what i also want to be able to do is switch them on when the car is unlocked. like the coming home function on newer cars..
I hear you. Do you have the electronic means to query the ECU for the info?
Depending on the HW/SW config, I may be able to engage the very function you mention.

Good. VAG-COM should be able to tell you the Hardware and Software numbers of your ECU.
Please send me that info, and I will be able to tell you what your options are.
