Lumintop SD75 - pictures, numbers, thoughts

hey!

i started a teardown of my SD75 because i found some strange behaviour…

i have no data to show now - only some teasers…

it does not need the charging circuit to work

there is NO balancing of the cells when charging!
but a lot (thin) springs…

a lot nimb3rs taken ….
Output vs. LED Amperes vs. Input voltage/amperes

also:
its a lot colder in tint than my K60
and alot more dim on high and more bright on low

the UI is not my favorite…

to be continued…

maybe you can also post your findings so we get a collection of inputs and ideas as a startingpoint for your projects....

i saw the Lumens was very different from one test to another - 30Qs with 4V had higher Lumens than full ones??

so i hooked up my new bench power supply and took some measures. (3rd pic in the OP)

-> i switched to low, then adjusted the input voltage down from 8,4V to 5,6V (where LVP started to flash) - after that came runs on med and high

-> i did 3 runs on high and wrote the higher values - due to heat i made pauses often - values take 15 sec after entering a testpoint

-> Lumen are corrected to my Fenix P35 TAC

-> i saw a bit higher Lumens when the light did not stuck in my box as deep as in this test setup

numb3rs!

the highest Lumens in every mode are right before the driver goes into DD (green Ain ~ Aled)?

edit measured 323,5 µA parasitic drain

comparison with acebeam K60:(different setup than above! full 30Qs)

K60 1 97 864 1790 3340 4608
SD75 240 1560 3290

more to come....

Subbed

When compared to the K60, it is colder in tint or colder in body because of poor heatsinking?

cooler in tint - the heatsinkink seems to be very good…
the base is 4 mm thick

Are you able to up the amps yet? Is the light output on par w the K60?

i did not mod it …. maybe soon

the lumens are on par with K60 (on its second highest mode ;))

i usually play with lights to see how they work - and this driver makes me scratch my head…

but the baby has a cold (as the whole family) and that cuts down my playtime

So the SD75 Turbo is on par with the K60 on level 5?

Hey Martin, did you bust the cap off it yet? Mine was a beeeatch to get off! |(

cap?
you mean front bezel?

was easy…
grippy gloves - a little uuummmppfffft - and it was loose
just a bit glue in the threads

Lucky, mine was glued the whole width of the threads! |( Do you have an o-ring between bezel and head? Mine didn’t?

i put in some data…

hope you find them interesting

edit:
any explanation why i (did selfbuilt measure led Amperes) needs near 6A to make a bit over 3200 Lumen?
low bin?

according to the cree characterisation tool i think its a K4 bin in that light :frowning:

where do i get a P2?

I would’t think it could with a simple battery carrier. Did the specs say it would balance charge?

KuoH

i don’t think it was advertised…

but isn’t it standard to balance serial cells while charging?

It’s recommended, but requires contact points between batteries to do so. A standard battery carrier that just has a + and - contact points won’t be able to provide that, not to mention the additional charging circuitry needed.

KuoH

Thanks for your pictures, numbers and thoughts. I hope my SD75 will arrive soon.

ordered a XHP70 N4 3B from Richard….

I got my light and actually ordered another right away. One for modding an one for stock use.

I noticed that when going in highest mode the light is very bright but then it dims down a a bit and it sounds like pwm started.
