Flashlight unwanted modes change

Hi guys,

I’m a bit new in the flashlight world. Recently I bought a Convoy S2+ and a Warsun MX900. Also bought a XTAR VP2 charger.

If I recall correctly, these flashlights have a memory e.g. they know what mode you were in when you switch of the flashlight and go back to this mode when you switch the light on again, right?

Currently (with both flashlights) they seem to re-enter into the wrong mode when I turn them on. For example on the Convoy S2+, I’ve set it to 3-mode and when I switch off on LOW (LOW-MID-HIGH modes available), it sometimes switches on into the next mode *MID). So it ‘jumps’ to the next mode.

On the Warsun MX900 this is even more annoying because its next mode is the STROBE mode so when I need the flashlight at night to walk through the house for example, it jumps from the mode I was in (HIGH) to STROBE. This can be really annoying.

So is there something I’m doing wrong, are the switches faulty or is this just normal behavior?
Thanks in advance!

You have to stay more than 2 seconds in a mode in order to memorize it.
It’s called ON time memory

I think this could explain it, will try that, thanks!

Also a slightly intermittent connection can be interpreted as an intentional click — wipe out all the threads to remove any grit and gunk; make sure the little retaining ring in the tail is tight (usually tweezers or needle nose pliers in 2 little holes, twist in threads). Sometimes the springs may be cut off leaving a tiny little sharp contact point instead of bent over slightly to make a long smooth contact. A small bit of conductive “bulb grease” can help at the threads and spring contacts.
