First impression:
The aircraft grade aluminum body is always nice to have on a flashlight. This one has some weight to it at 144 grams. The design helps anti-roll for the most part, so you can set this down without it rolling away. It also features a recessed tail switch so that the light can tail stand for use as a candle.

This light has one mode only which is accessed via the tail switch. A full click will activate the light until clicked again, a half press will be momentary. This light is advertised to output 144 lumens and throw a range of 112 meters. I must say I am impressed with the throw on this, for a cheap 144 lumen light that could be bought in Walmart, it holds to it’s advertisement. Although it is not too bright, the small hot spot can throw 100 meters in complete darkness. I have seen deer eye reflections with this from around 120 meters.

Here is a view of the hotspot. The beam has a tight hot spot yet has a wide angle to the spill.

The battery compartment has an O-ring which supposedly will keep the components safe from water spray, but not full submersion. (I did test this, water spray did not affect the light at all, however; full submersion did leak water onto the reflector. No damage was done but I wouldn’t trust doing that again). Light amounts of water can be handles though.

Inside the battery compartment, you have a built in tube to put your AAA batteries.

Overall:
For being under $20 and an older flashlight that uses AAA’s I am pretty impressed with it. I do wish it was IPX8 waterproof, but for the price I can’t really complain. The body is sturdy and holds up to many drops without impacting performance. The glass I would not trust to hold up to too much of a beating. The bezel is smooth and only rises about 2mm above the lens.

This would be a good around-the-house light for when the power goes out. The tail stand capability helps it to be used as a candle. This could also be used when camping to see around the camp, however I personally would not use it as an EDC light because it has no pocket clip or holster. The brightness and runtime of over 6 hours is good for using (3) AAAs.

Bottom line, I would recommend this to someone who wants a cheap but reliable around-the-house light or something to be used for night walks to make themselves seen to cars without completely putting a dent in your night vision.
