3pks of the Feit 60W equivalent are all gone. At my local DT.

Did have another buddy confirm a different (huge) store had them too last week. He said there was a wall stacked with them.

I have been going back once or twice a week… no more bulbs in the stores I’ve checked. Maybe my timing is off. When I ask about the “LED bulbs”, nobody seems to have any idea about when they last had them, when they’ll have them again, or what days their goods get delivered.

Of the two that I popped the domes off of, I haven’t torn them down any further. I’ve just dealt with the LEDs and current limiter, chip voltages and calculated currents.

The weird 8.6 – 8.8v per chip values… The LED specs have changed since I first started looking into them. I doubt these are Nichia chips, but in digging into modern White LED mult-die surface mount chips, I see lower voltages overall. The SMT LEDs seem to tend towards 3v, with multi-die chips being multiples of that – so, 3v, 6v, 9v, 18v chips would be expected… 8.6v? 8.8v? I did see a Luxeon multi-die SMT LED that spec’d 8.5v.

Whatever, I think they’re a great deal IF you can find them.

I never found any of the three packs but I did find the single 40W and 60W equivalents at two different DT locations that are on my route home. I have a bunch of them around my house now. Great value even at $1 each though I wish I could have found the three packs. I’ve found the 60W to be a pretty nice neutral tint while the 40W are much cooler even though both are listed at 5000K. Now I’m nervous that I should have bought more. I’ll check in the way home again today.

Stopped in to my Local DT to feed my need for the Fudge Striped Shortbread Cookies.
No LED bulbs to be found, no singles, no triple packs.. nothin.
Grabbed a refill bottle of the Awesome Orange cleaner degreaser too.

It’s funny, I stopped in DT tonight too, to get some chips for the BIG game tonight!
????????????????

UCONN women against a really good South Carolina team. UCONN is going for 100 in a row.

Of course I looked for LED bulbs, none to be found, just the empty cartons for the 1 packs of the FEIT 60W bulbs
I just got back from a trip from CT to Ohio and back. I checked some DT’s in NY, PA and Ohio for the 3 packs. I didn’t even see any 1 packs of LED’s

They’ll be back.

Yeah, I read your posting asking for good cheap Chinese bulbs. Of course the ones at DT are probably made in China, but a store like DT has already determined what bulbs are good enough for their customers. Also the $1 bulbs at DT are a dollar because of State subsidies.

I don’t know about the last part…
DT in Virginia are privately owned franchise stores, AFAICT. I don’t think that Virginia participates in any subsidies or rebates. What we get at DT is because… it’s carried by DT. The state isn’t putting $$ in the pockets of the store owners to carry the bulbs. If that were the case, I think I’d see something similar at HD, Lowe’s, WW, Target, etc.
Actually, if I were a state, and that is what I wanted to do, I’d give the “rebate” to the purchaser, on proof of purchase. A little less chance of shenanigans and tom-foolery.

“Yes… I sold $36,000 worth of $ light bulbs last week. Here is my proof.”
“Um… why does it say coconut water, greeting cards, batteries, snacks, and… ‘cheap crap’?”
“I think it’s a computer glitch. Can I just get my subsidies? I have to catch a plane to South America…”

However, if the state IS giving subsidies in CT, then congratulations on getting the state to redistribute OPM!

Yeh, went to the DT myself today. Hit it bout once every two weeks. Never seen any LED bulbs yet. All I got was some black olives and 4 packs/dollar French Breakfast radish seeds

I keep looking for LED bulbs….maybe next time.

I asked at the closest DT about the bulbs. I asked when they would get new stock in. I got two diff’t answers from two diff’t people. Granted, it was on two different days, but still…
If I thought they had time and inclination to answer the phone, I’d just call every day until I got bulbs or got tired (or they got tired of seeing my number in the caller id…).

I got a dozen each of the Lowes LED bulbs in 40 and 60 watts for a buck each last December 2015. They are now in their 14th month of service on my front porch light and lamp post light. They burn @ 15 hours a day. That’s pretty good service so far. Regular incans lasted only 4-5 and sometimes 6 months.

Glad I was able to get in on the BlackFriday from Lowes . Good buys.

FYI, one out of 3 of my local dollar stores had the globe LED for life BR30 bulbs for $1 each. None of the stores had the regular A19 bulbs there are mentioned in this thread.

The shape makes me think of a flood light. Is it, and, if so, what do you think of the light distribution?

Well, if they ever come back here, I’ll by FIVE PACKS! (er, last time I counted, I figured I could spend $20 on the single bulb packs… how am I going to explain coming home with 60 LED bulbs? Oh well, I’ll worry about that when it happens…)

i’ve never seen them either (dollar LED bulbs)

I wouldn;t be surprised if it was a regional thing, or maybe your stores have a different franchise owner or something.

Today I caught up with you Smile

That 2 pack I found yesterday was up by the register. Someone at the last minute decided against it and dumped it there.
Today I went back to see what the display looked like. This is what I saw.

But wait…….
On the top shelf there is the 3 pack of the FEIT’s!!!!
I grabbed it and looked around for more. I found them on an endcap Smile

Later in the day I was in Massachsetts and stopped by a DT there.

If you look carefully, you can see single packs of GreenLite 60W equiv LED’s in the isle.
The endcap in the foreground has 3 kinds of Floodlights. 65W, 75W and 90W.

I had been in Ohio for the past 2 weeks and I had reason to stop in DT for some hand cream. Of course while in there I checked to see if they had LED light bulbs. And they DID! They even had the 2 packs!

I didn’t actually need any more, but I bought 1 pack as a souvenir from Ohio. Smile

Unfortunately the locations I’ve visited in the Cleveland area never have ANY led bulbs.

Never realized there is a Dollar Tree 5 miles from my house. I’ll have to check it out!

Today I needed a multi tap, non grounded AC adapter. And I knew right where to go to find one, Dollar Tree.

Non grounded wiring is obsolete here in the U.S. I never thought I would need something as rare as that, but I wanted to fork a couple of LED shop lights of the built socket. The light fixture is double insulated

I also knew where in the store to find them, in housewares. My local store is a very high volume store and my biggest gripe about it is that they don’t hire enough cashiers and personnel. When I got to the housewares section, this is what I saw Facepalm

The pegboards are almost bare but there are cases of replacement goods to be hung. Looks like a buying frenzy occurred for whatever reason and I missed it.
Luckily I found my adapter at the far end of this isle and snapped another picture of this isle in the opposite direction.

To the left in the foreground is the shelf with the LED bulbs. If you look carefully you can see that there are still 2 and 3 packs of 60W LED bulbs.
BTW, I hardly ever shop online. Almost always, if something I need can be found in retail, I can get it for less there. Sometimes for a lot less.
Compare that duplex adapter at DT for a $1 vs Ebay for $3.75

Ding, Ding Winner Winner – dochomak got the 3pks.

Darn those Sunbeam 90W BR30 look cool. All I have see are the 65W LEDLife flood single packs.

But I just got home from the DT…
Got ANOTHER Flat (6 pack) of the 3 packs.

I haven’t had one fail yet. Many friends picked these up too and none reported a failure.

Snakebite; which bulb failed on ya? There are several listed here. Was there water in it?
Just Curious…

I think he said it was a CREE.

I was in the local hardware store the other day and saw this. Big Smile

18 times the price!

And then there was this 100W equivalent.

Keep an eye on Walmart, they have like a power savings month or something like that once a year, LED bulbs for 88c two years ago. I ended up buying about 40 or so. Replaced all the old LED bulbs and CFLs that I hated. Can only imagine they will be cheaper, or of better quality this year

Granted, the old LED bulbs that cost from $10-20 never died in 5 years or so. I been through about 10 so far of the walmart ones. But my old LEDs were different color temps, and I only had three of them, and I HATE CFL.

Now every single light in my house is one color temp, and I still have 11 for back ups.

There is a difference between the cheap LED bulbs and the premium ones, but not sure if 10x or more the cost is worth it.
