Uk Lidl stores - 2300mAh AA Nimh, plus C and D cells (11/2015)

Just picked up 12 AA 2300mAh Tronic “ready charged” from my local Lidl.

It appears to be £2.99 for 4AA or 2C (4000mAh) or 2D (4500mAh) or 1x9v (200mAh).

Out of the packet I have 3@1.22v, and 1@1.18v. All currentlt discharging and will report with findings.

Did you get any c or d cells as well?

No… no real use for them. I was tempted as I have a 2D mag I could use them in. I’m curious about the capacity claims.

Me 2!

Mine all had ~1600mah out of the packet, first charge cycle shows around 2100mah IIRC

production date: 7/2015

I have not been impressed by the Tronic brand. I also purchased the green pre-powered batteries that they occasionally do to and they proved to be servicible but not a patch on Eneloop batteries. I purchased loads of them though as they were half price and ideal for clocks and such like.

I have 4 AA 2300mAh Tronic “ready charged” and they are fine, probably not as long lasting as Eneloop Pro, but less than half the price. It’d be interesting to see some cycle testing.

I got some AA and AAAs but beware they are BIG! They will not go near a minimaglite. They seem OK though. Voltage was a bit low one week after a full charge, but for the price (£2.50 here) can’t be beat. Cheaper than duraleaks.

The 3@ 1.22v all had between 1530 and 1640mAh from the packet, the 4th only had 300mAh in it!

All charging at the moment.

Might pick up some of the C cells and convert the 2D mag to 3C.

Please let us know how they go especially the one with only 300mAh.

Ok… After a charge/test cycle on my C3100, I am getting:

2250, 2270, 2283 and 2284.

All pretty close, and not a kick in the back side away from the claimed capacity. The lowest (300mAh) Came back to 2070. I’ll give them a week and run another discharge.

Well, I couldn’t resist.

Went back in tonight and picked up another 12 AA, and 6 C cells… time to test!

Saw they are still called “eco”. Will see how they live up to
the 1000 charge cycle that they claim? Not in the past.

The C cells are all showing 3800/3900ish after one charge/test cycle.

They won’t be getting heavy use or very many cycles in this house, so at roughly half the price of alkalines, it’s a no brainer for me, even if they only did 100 cycles!

Heads up that is ulidl have the aa and aaa in stock again from Monday in 8 packs for 4.99, again marked eco, but now nicely coloured batteries.

The same here in Spain, 8 coloured batteries for 7.99€ “ready to use”.
