another 18650 torture test

Here is the "victim":

multimeters are ready:

The cell was in deep discharge state, so it's maybe damaged, but I mesured the internal resistance of the cell, and that was only 115mOhm, so it can be drive hard.
Regarding the test, first I shorted the cell with a relative thin and long wire.
At 3:00 you see, the current and the voltage is dropping quickly, I don't know, maybe the PTC limits the current, or the cell can not hold the current.

second action:

Shorted the cell with a thick and short wire, you see the current is started over 20A and decreased rapidly.

third:

again short and thick wire:

fourth action:

back to the long thin wire :

After that the cell was 60°C, but nothing serious.

Is that a Rev Jim cell I love those things great job.

I salvaged it from a laptop battery, and I think it is almost the same as Rev Jim's cells, but older of course.

why does the voltage in the third video bounce back to 3,8v after the short ?

did you try to recharge the cell ?

Because I terminated the wiring. It did not discharge fully through the tests.

Until now I didn't try to charge. But the internal resistance is the same, 115mohm.

+1... Interesting tests. Thanks for donating your cell to science.

Okay, I charged it up. Nothing happened, cell temperature was below 30°C.
