shrick - wow, lot of work there - great info! Interesting the FT XP-G2's had the greatest variance, where the S4's and U4's were pretty much in the same range. You did get some high amps from those S2's though, more inline with what Mitko gets I'm suspecting from those #'s. Wonder if the reflow method of temp/time/solder used makes a difference, or just that there's such variance in the LED's, or something. I'm suspecting this more and more, since Mitko does high volume, seems to be fairly consistent results, while for me, I'm a little all over the place - different methods, maybe different time/temps, and I got lower amps on S2's mostly, even with domes on so not related to dedoming.

Direct drive / solder using 18AWG copper wire, XP-L HI 3B.
BOSS1 on top, TK61 (stock) at the bottom.
How come TK61 so dim? You are outstanding during contest with Courui.

I weld professionally for a living. I am pretty sure electrons move from the negative pole to the positive pole when a circuit is established. When you work on your automobile you remove the negative wire from the battery to ensure the livelihood of the various computer modules. I do not wish to argue about basic electricity theories, but, Prove me wrong.

This is why I usually do emitter current readings from the negative wire, if something touches ground it will simply bypass the mcu and go direct drive off the cell. If I were to be using the positive lead and touched ground, I would be shorting out the high discharge cell… ALWAYS a bad thing!

Did I miss something? What the heck is the last 3 posts have to do with anything preceding in this thread? Edit: Ohhh - posts #305 and #306

I'd rather here from freeme - what's the status of this group buy happening? Seems like GearBest was fantasizing on selling them. Anyone here any more from GearBest? Still listed as 3-5 days, as is most of their flashlights.

I believe vendor has placed order with Palight today. I am a bit reserve about the quantity that needs to be stocked up. Remember to act fast if you want them.

I understand GearBest intention and I am totally fine with it. It is true that they do not have ready stock but that doesn't mean they will not deliver right? Tongue Out

I contacted GearBest again. They got "a few" lights in, for testing and they will/are selling those. I believe, (I may be wrong), that they only got 3-4 lights. One is gone already and I just ordered one, so possibly one or two they actually have in their hands. The rest will be the 3-5 days to get from the vendor and then they need to test and verify before shipping, so it sounds like the norm is 5-7 days to ship and another 10-20 days to arrive, or less, depending on if you want to pay for faster shipping.

I had quite a few points saved, so I think it was about $40 USD after all the points I used. I took 3-7 day shipping, so I am looking at 10-12 days to arrive, if things go right, (meaning if Murphy is in the Caribbean on vacation ).

I will test it out when it arrives and post a review thread at BLF, with beam shots, (at CPF too, most likely). I will do amp draws and lux at 2 meters, with the stock set-up, as it comes. I will do some beam shots too.

Of course, I will mod it some time in the future. I won't be going for a thrower. I want to go for an XHP-70 light with a stippled reflector. At least that is the plan. I do have an SBT-90 and SBT-70, so the plan could always change.

Banggood will also have it in a week, as they ordered some this week. Just FYI. Think someone from each seller probably reads all the posts from all these flashlight forums?

I ordered the Boss1 at the day it was listed at Gearbest. A few days later, I asked them, when the flashlight will be shipped out and the answer was: the vendor can`t deliver that light in the next weeks and I get a full refund on my PayPal account!
DealsMachine sells this flashlight also and I started a second try. I hope they can ship my order in the next days.

Greetings from Munich

I am the one who introduced BOSS1 to them back in Nov. Of course they have all the necessary info regarding this light. Wink

I was gonna say that - freeme is basically our connection to the retailers on this, definitely BG at least. I looked at the DM (DealsMachine) deal, and for the basic model, for me w/shipping it's about $63, but that's with regular or expedited shipping, not bad price, but more than GB's cheapest deal. Not sure if DM has an affiliation with GB or BG...

EveryBuying.net (EB?) also has it, for $65 for Basic model, but pretty sure EB has a direct affiliation w/GB.

Shame though you won't get max throw with a XP-L HI. A dedomed XP-L will always beat it.

Both claimed that they are not affiliated but it is up to us to believe their words. It doesn't really matter to me as long as I received what I ordered.

Palight claimed that raw material price has increased since Dec, and they have no choice but to increase BOSS1 and shipping price Cry. Group buy will only resume after Chinese New Year.

Bummer on the increased price.

Charging port, three LED power indicator and a mini warm white LED near the right edge.

62mm head, 170mm length and 650g (incl. batteries). Unfortunately, no OP reflector again.

Looks rather interesting. Might be able to run on high for quite a while with the extra mass. But is that a switch at the tail cap? I hope not

With all the poor market activity and the shutting down of the market almost daily, I would imagine there's enough turmoil and fear right now, that prices would go crazy, so not too surprising. I am looking to see all the prices go up, after their new year.
