Snapring or needle nose pliers that will fit in the holes on the ring are the key to tear down both ends. I have seen both left and right hand threads, so try both directions.
These are my plier of choice for taking lights apart... They are used in wire wrap for jewelry making!
If you don’t have needle nose pliers a pair of scissors will also work. You might have to twist fairly hard but unless it was cross threaded it should come loose. Then it all pools out.
Good flush cut wire nippers (does not mean expensive), a flux pen, good solder in a small diameter (I like 63/37 alloy, I like Kester) and a basic decent multimeter and a set of high quality leads. A set of good small screwdrivers and a couple of small strap wrenches would also be good.
Eye protection. Those little nippers, notoriously, eventually break and fling the pointy part. Eyeballs attract stuff like that.
Eye protection. Fumes from non-lead solder are even worse than fumes from leaded solder, except for the absence of lead oxide dust.
Exhuast fan leading everything outside, airflow from over your shoulders carrying fumes away from you.
Eyewash — bucket if nothing better
Handwashing provision.
